Simon is riding very very uninspiringly, that's true. He has taken responsiblity once or twice, but he's very lucky to be on the podium and, barring complete collapse tomorrow, he'll probably stay there.

Today he's criticizing his team and his teammates for not following the plan. I'm curious to know what he thought the plan was, I think everything they did worked in his favour... on paper. At some point you also need to pick your moment and go for it, dear Simon.

In the post race interview he was very annoyed at Visma's bad implementation of their plan for today's stage.

He looks strong, but not strong enough to make a difference to the rest of the pack. The GC group are damn tired.

Why did he not just tell Kruijswijk, Lemmen and Kelderman to not pace or pace in a different way if the steady hard pace was not the plan? You can talk to the teammates and DS during the race last time I checked?

I'm not gonna say I'm happy Rog crashed out. But if you ask me to write a pipe dream outcome that I don't believe is ever gonna happen after he left, this is it.

I've always liked Simon Yates as like a back up rider to root for in races, but seeing him teary eyed in the press brings some tears to my eyes.

TAKE the GC Yates!
I love aggressive racing!
Smart to have WvA up the road if/when the escape works!
Fantastic to have the legs to make the plan work!

Awesome climb up Finestre!
He did it under an hour, which is a record. Fastest ascent ever in a road stage I believe.

Performance wise it might have been his best day on a bike ever in a mountain stage. Watts2win is actually placing this performance as the best in Simon's career. Chapeau!

Visma was great. WvA was great and Simon was great.

He certainly deserved a GT in his career. I just can't say this was the most memorable performance over the three weeks.
A GT winner with no stage wins is a no way for me.
And a Dirty Visma win also is a BIG no way.

It's a very Zubeldia/ninja/stealth kind of win.
Anyway big performance today and what else.
Congrats.

I'll keep eating my hat in anger.
