Richard Plugge said he was told about the decision during the Christmas period and decided he wouldn't try and persuade him. " It is what it is"

yeah, that's all you can do.

Sounds quite respectful and sensible from Plugge; tells us that Simon Yates doesn't make statements like this without giving it serious thoughts, and accepting that they simply have to deal with the situation.
They must hope the likes of Piganzoli and Lemmen can step up and that Kuss is can deliver the classic Kuss efforts on those 3-5 stages it is needed across Giro and the Tour. If power levels haven't shifted (in Vinogs favour) between Pogi and Jonas, Kuss isn't that essential at the Tour anyway.

Will Yates be remembered for smashing the Finestre record (5 minutes faster than Froome's 2018 time) or for rage quitting with the January blues?

Shame on everyone insinuating doping on X without any evidence or even an argument beyond pretending to be in disbelief that a human being quits his job in January.

For a moment, think that this decision may have been contemplated for a long time and may be due to health, either mental or physical, and that he does not want to share that with the world. Which is fully his right. Instead, he is dragged through the mud for absolutely no good reason.

And for the record, the blocking on X/Twitter happened years ago, in 2023. It is not recent at all, and it is not evidence of anything except how eagerly conspiracy theorists retrofit narratives to suit their suspicions.

Good riddance.

I have this recurring dream of rage quitting my job, blocking everyone on linkedin and then begging my employers to take me back. Then I wake up and relax, knowing I have only 8 years left of jumping through hoops.
We never tell the whole truth.

To be fair, let's not blame only the users of X. There are clinic threads on this forum with worse insinuations from other cyclists.

Was one of my favourite riders thanks to his aggressive style back dating back to 2016-17 and was really happy when he stole the Giro from Del Toro. He had a very good career for someone who was very inconsistent even during the GTs. Worth noting that his high level was very high though. And the way he won the Giro was basically movie stuff, winning it where he lost 7 years ago.

Riders like him and Carapaz were basically the last remainders of the past in this robotic era.

To be fair to actual cyclists; most of those insinuations generate from basement riders. Not knowing the effort and pain to be a pro is a convenient ignorance when spouting opinion.

'Basement dwellers' is basically as basement dweller of a counterargument one can make.

I shall not tolerate any more slander of basements.

Basement dwellers matter.
