The TT should finally tell us exactly how good his form is. If he can do well then I could see him specifically targeting a high GC place, if not then I predict he'll do more stage hunting. Either way though, not sure he will hang in there once the get into the big mountains. Would be happy to be proven wrong on that though.

Tomorrow should be indicative of both his TT and his climbing. Should be an interesting test.

There's been some smoke blowing from the Evans camp. Not sure if they've been doing a bit more planning that they've let on. Tomorrow will tell.

Evans does look quite sharp, much better than I thought. You could be right that he is much better than they have let on. I guess all will be known tonight.

still hanging there, remember last year Tour he was ahead of Nibali in the first ITT, then dropped the bomb in the mountains and second long ITT
Last year's Tour is not a fair comparison. Condition, health, circumstances and other factors are all different.

Forza Evans..or Nibs!

Save us from the borefest of Ryder or Wiggins.

Ryder has shown quite a bit of spark thus far in the Giro and also in LBL. Definitely not comparable to Wiggo boredome.

The live commentary says he had a problem with his shoe.

Thanks. I only saw someone bring him back to the front, but didn't hear the reason.

Great ITT by Evans today.

I wonder if BMC have been playing games with the media ? Evans has looked solid since the start of this race apart from the TTT which he can't control on his own. He showed glimpses at Trentino and has built on that. He is in a great position, not being in Pink but close to the lead.

I hope he continues to be solid through out the rest of the week. And he should finally be the sole leader for BMC comes to TDF. (TVG is overated :D)

Looks like we could see him target the GC.

Very good ride by Cadel today, would be cool to see him make the podium at this point in his career. Now to see how he handles the mountains.

I don't think they have played games. Evans did not have great condition pre-Giro and coming in a bit under-done suits him for the 3rd week.

His training camp pre Giro did the trick.

Evans looked pretty good at the Tour of Oman, even outperforming Nibali at both crucial stages. Seemed to have gone backwards at Tirreno-Adriatico and Criterium International, but was probably ill during that period? Now he looks decently well again.

Looks like BMC have taken a couple of the good things from Sky last year, but not the bad ones?

Thought Evans was in even worse form than last season at the start of the year, but perhaps he's timed it just right

Cadel rising from the ashes of 2012. Looks like there is some life in those legs :)

My problem with Evans is still reserve tank, he did OKish in the first week of Tour, then dropped bomb in the second and third week. let's see how this times goes in Giro. Hope last year Tour is only a fluke not a trend.

Whoever it was at BMC that talked cadel into riding this giro is starting to look like a genius. Whatever happens from here, this will be a big boost for both the team & cuddles.

Last year he was sick which explains why he bombed. If those health issues are truly behind him I suspect Evans will only get stronger the longer this race progresses. Nobody would say he was overcooked leading into this Giro and Sastre aside I don't believe your form drops off a cliff with advancing age - it is a gradual thing.

Glad to see Evans back in good form & performing well. He will not podium, but a top 5 is on his grasp & even better if he manages to win an stage. :)

Please tell me your joking lol, Evans is 36 years old like the previous poster said he is trying to cling on to the hope he will be a leader still. Id be very surprised if Evans ever get's a top 5 GC result in GT's again, age catches up im afraid.:D

After today's TT I think you might want to re consider. Age catches up with everybody but not overnight.

Are you certain he won't? Everything he's done so far this week has looked pretty decent and in control, and he seems to have become better as well. He's surprised most of us so far, and IMO he's Nibali's best adversary.

+1

It's been funny to see how people's opinions toward Evans is gradually changing.
Who would've have thought that he would be second after the TT...
If still have what it takes for the mountain then he could be a real threat. Are there bonus seconds on MTF ?
