given pro cyclists start way fit............1 month seems plenty time to prepare

some viewers may wonder if he is even riding............talk about
B O R I N G..............even the eurosport commentator was asking if
he was still there yesterday

Yeah - I dont know why all pro cyclists dont just do a month of preperation, some of the really talented ones could maybe get away with three weeks...

Lets talk about boring then. What would be not boring for you? If you had come into a race a bit underdone how would you play it? Being in second and in good shape doesnt really mean much does it - would be better to be in 10th after a stupid attack like that Ryder guy, or at least bring a bit of comedy relief like that Wiggins guy and his grandma's decending. Bloody boring Evans.

Yawn. DQ doesn't have a clue and the only reason he was hard to spot is because, unlike Wiggins, he doesn't have 5 team members surrounding him for 90% of the climbs.

Is it true Cadel is riding this Giro with only 1 months real training?

If so then I'm looking forward to the Tour.

There is a ride that won the giro while in vacation.. he will be at the Tour. Take a look. ;)

About Evans...

I like him.. I will be happy if he win or at least podium!

I think he's racing for second place only: otherwise, why pull Nibali along?

(Nothing wrong with second place for Evans: chapeau if he gets it)

No way. He's been coy until now. Who knows, maybe he really didn't trust his form. But as of the itt he's been racing for one thing only...

If I recall correctly Nibali spent a bit of time on the front also. They both benefited from putting time into their rivals that had been dropped (Wiggins, Gesink, Scarponi....).

then your sure to enjoy the rest of the giro...............enlivened with
cadel's attacking style and great character

me? looking forward to seeing him distanced

If you think what you've seen so far of Evans' in this years giro is boring, you will probably never enjoy watching a GC battle in a grand tour.

I guess you want guys like Samu to attack from 5 mins behind and take a two minute lead.

Each to their own.

it is what it is. i will merely be aggregating and republishing each of these posts. i will not be drawing judgment on, nor can i be responsible for how others may judge them.

But why? What's the point of re-publishing those posts?

It was pretty obvious why he went to the front. He knew Wiggins was behind and also Uran was ahead. Narrow the gap to Uran and put some time into Wiggins. Nibali was not going to be dropped and Evans probably knew that. With the team that Evans has he will have to make more of these decisions in the days ahead as will Nibali if his team mates have been left behind.

I'm sorry, I don't quite follow this post. Do you mean Contador?

Yes, when Contador won the Giro in 2008 it was commonly said by his fans that he won that race after "sitting on a beach". It is another reason that made AC so popular with his fans. Like Evans, it was a late decision by him and his team to race the Giro that year and he won.

I think as other posters have said, these are special athletes. A month of hard work can create a lot more results for them that it does for ordinary humans (like me ). Evans said after Stage 10 he did a lot of work on his climbing for that month - it showed yesterday. Evans used to cop a lot of criticism for being a wheel sucker but I noted on yesterday's climb Evans, just like in his 2011 TDF win - was willing to take responsibility for the chase......more good signs.

Big question is what will happen to his form from here on? Due to his late build up I am of the opinion his form will actually improve. The big risk for Evans is his health. Seems like a lot of ill riders in the Giro now due to the wet or cool weather so far. If Evans catches a bug he could end up like Wiggins - struggling.

Cadel has become ill before in these situations so I do hope his immune system is up to the task - he's due some good luck in that aspect after Giro 2010 and TDF 2012 where he fell out of contention after getting sick.

LOL that is because they only have eyes for Sky and Wiggo. Geez they never even noticed or mentioned Nibali made it back to the lead group after falling twice, all they cared about was that Wiggo was gapped.....

Yeah but there are 4 of them...I get Kirby and Lloyd on US tv...watch first hour on stream with DQ and Kelly then get the next 2 Sky lovers for the rest of the race.

Although I must say that Kirby was very complimentary of Nibali when he was on the podium today.

BTW Kirby Adores Cadel, almost as much as he loves Wiggo. Never fails to notice where Cadel is!

Kirby is suffering from man crush. He gets so excited by his favourite riders but no one calls a finish like Kirby. As long as he calls the correct riders of course.

Looks like the weather might ruin any chance of a real high mountains one-on-one battle between nibali and cadel. Shame.

That would likely be in cadels favour then? I think Nibali would take time on Evans in really high stuff
