Till now Evans seems to have the perfect Giro.Second in GC,and wearer of the pink jersey. If he will finish on podium in GC,will win Maglia Rossa(I think in this moment he is the favorite) and will win a stage he will enter in TdF with much more confidence than he expected. Also if he is able to stay with Nibali in the mountains and beat him in the sprints for bonus seconds he can win the GC.

Let's not get ahead ourselves. Cadel seemed to suffer today. That was the 1st cat climb. So tuesday will be a telling if he actually has a good form. He does so far seems to be in a promising condition. Let's hope today just how his face looked like and not his form:p

Did you see him crossing the line? He looked very, very comfortable then.

The BMC riders that suffer was Santaromita and Morabito.Evans was in Nibali wheel all stage except the descend from Vallombrosa to Pontassieve where he drop to the middle of the peloton.

Whats w cadel going after the points jersey?? He already has one at home, does BMC need the points that badly?

Not confidence inspiring...

he's going for time bonuses and staying out of trouble by being at the front.

probably also shoving it up the haters on this forum ;)

Evans has sprinted for the line since forever, only difference now is he's probably better at it. If it's a big sprint he will still be around 20th and if it's a reduced sprint he will be amongst the first few.

More like he's doing it to validate his TdF win and not go down as a one hit wonder (in GT's not just any old race, by the way).

One hit wonder in GTs is a little tough. I'd describe cobo as one hit wonder in GTs. Vuelta 2011 1st, next best 10th vuelta 2009, next best 19th tdf 2007, nothing else bears talking about.

Cadel TDF 1st 2011, 2nd 2007, 2nd 2008, 4th 2006, 7th 2012, 8th 2005, 2007 4th Vuelta, 2009 3rdVuelta, 2010 5th Giro.
That's a record not many can compete with and isn't going to be altered by high finishes in reduced sprints. I think he sprints for these as you don't want to lose a silly 3 -10 seconds if there is a gap in the bunch, and then you find yourself at the front of that group why not have a dig?

He was third in the 2009 Vuelta, might have won it if he hadn't flatted on a critical stage. If Evans finishes on the podium in this Giro, he will have podiumed in all three GTs. In fact, we could have two new riders added to that club, as a podium for Wiggins would give him podiums in all three GTs. too. AFAIK, only three active riders have accomplished this feat: Contador, Nibali and Menchov. Sastre may be the only other rider this century.

How many riders have done it in history? Five riders have won all three GTs, but how many have podiumed in all three GTs? I'm guessing not more than twenty or thirty.

Uhm...maybe the dumbest thing I have read in a long while. Perhaps you should take a break from these forums seeing you have been here the longest..

I agree what is El chingon on lol, what I will say guys so far it's basically been classic racing. I think we need to see a few cols yet because if Evans is in form he beats Nibali.

That makes no sense at all. He is validating his Tour win by sprinting ? Everyone with half a brain knows that real the race starts on Tuesday. It's only Evan's competitive instincts that have him in the Red jersey. If he climbs well, the sprint will come in handy.

+1 ... and if he looks like missing out on the GC podium he could go for the Red jersey (as in 2010).

Stage 10 is crunch time for Evans. No form coming in but has looked great during the first week. I expect him to be dropped but am hoping that I am wrong.

If he hangs with the GC contenders up the final climb then game on.. he can win this race!

His performance today will show just how good a shape he is in. He has looked surprisingly good in the first week but today is the real test. I hope he does well, will make the GC race all the more exciting...

Too bad Nibali picked up the bonus today but a great ride by Cadel. He looked like dropping on the steep section of the last climb but fought back as usual. He will keep fighting.
