Congrats Cadel !

You were the strongest and most clever man over 3 weeks.
Anyway, you need a stronger team that can make things easier.

Evans in tears and so humble. So sweet. :)

There should be an unwritten rule that the winner of TDF attempts the Firo-Tour Double the following year. It would make things a lot more interesting, and probably bring a lot more attention to the Giro and cycling in general.
Cadel looked great. Good to see a veteran get it, Andy has many years to figure out what the heck he needs to do to win. Also, very special for Australia as a country.

Cadel deserved this win. He was the strongest by far over the whole length of the race. Nobody got close, something he proved again today.

Delighted for him.

Congratulations, but a win that lacked pinache.

No mountain stage victory. No time trial victory.

rubbish. cadel was the only rider who rode to win. every time the race was slipping away he pulled it back, usually single handedly or with very little help. what did andy do when the race was slipping away? he asked cadel to help him, or complained about the course.

cadel rode a perfect tour based on the competition he faced. well deserved victory. what a total crushing of Andy. looks like his dad knows his son well.

Tommy could have podiumed if only he'd have waited and went up the road with cadel after he had his mechanical. he left far too much energy on the road chasing the break he was never going to catch

Well deserved win by Cadel. I'm just waiting to know if he will keep up his original plan to ride also the Vuelta and go for the double.

He was indeed the strongest. And he beat everybody by more time than luck gained him in the first week to prove it. Nice that he got a stage win too.

He has had an incredible year. He has entered a grand total of five races. Out of those he has won the Tour de France, Tirreno Adriatico and Romandie, finished second in the Dauphine and had a top 10 in Catalunya.

He is unrecognisable as the rider who for most of his career seemed to determined to get worse results than his talent allowed. Just compare his palmares before and after his World Championship win.

What a load of crapola, he won one of the best tours for years. He won in what will go down as a very courageous & clinical tour of the modern era.
Although armstrong had a few of those

>>Congratulations, but a win that lacked pinache.<<

"pinache" (sp) and $4.50 will get you a latte at starbucks.

i have been hard on cadel (cordell) over the years but he made a change a couple of years ago that Andy Schleck better take to heart.

he shut up and rode his bike!

if all a TDF victory required was talk schleck would have won the tour hands down.

ALL HAIL KING CADEL ;)!

you watch the same race we did?

cmon, in 2008 he saw sastre ride off into the distance didnt he, this year he took responsibility for the chase on how many occasions? yeah, and second in the TT to a time trial specialist... and the TTT, not exactly sure but how much work was he doing on the front but itwas a fair bit wannit... and how many team mates did he have in the high mountains?? Not many making his mountain rides all the better...

sorry, i really disagree and thought this year the racing was epic... attacks from 60 km out from schleck two days ago , crazy attacks by contador yesterday... Cuddles did everything right from the get go.

would also like to thank the hitch for some epic stage previews and great posts from ACF94, dlwssonic, tuarts, Dekker Tifosi, tuarts, just some guy... and the Galic Ho post on page 6 of teh TT thread was awesome. you guys make my watching of teh tour and most other races a hell of a lot better.

so proud of Cadel and his team...

Cadel was definitely a worthy winner and props to AS and AC for making this race, but last b ut not least, Cadel for being a mighty humble champion...

I have to hand it to Evans. I did not think he could do it. The stars aligned, everything fell into place, and he ended up on top when the chance of it happening was not very good. I will not say it was a victory with panache or much style, but he won with brute strength and determination that was consistent through the entire Tour.
