Cancellara is back! How about Spartacus?

I noticed there's been a while with no Cancellara-related thread. So, here it is:

Fabian is back in action - sort of. He is obviously still battling the effects of his injuries. Can he get back into form for the Olympics, or will his rather strong start of the season finish in the same disappointing tone set by his team-mates? Because we all know : "Timetrial are when you not in condition always hard" as he says.

I'm sure he will be in top form for the Olympics/ TDF. I think he will win the prologue in Liege and then it just depends on whether he is good enough to beat Martin in the other ITT's ( TDF ). I think not but he will be better by the time the Olympics come around than when he was at the TDF and there should be quite an interesting battle.

I have not the faintest ability to crystal ball Cancellara's future - but I am confident he will work at it! Go Spartacus!

Here it is, sad thing he injured just the first day of the classics. Well, he will be the leader of RSNT squad at le Tour according to Bruyneel, a top 10?

Bruyneel said he is only guy guaranteed a place, not a leader.

He said himself that he will not work as hard and go for it more like previous years and unlike last year.

I think he'll finally become the road race world champion this year. He most certainly deserves the title. I also think he'll take a couple of stages at the TDF, he's very hungry for success and his team definitely needs some victories.

Indeed if he can follow/execute attacks on the Cauberg then he will most likely be the only one capable of keeping that up to the finish and even if he is not he will certainly be there, i am just worried about another Gerrans scenario...

Unless the injury keeps bugging him, I'm convinced he'll be at absolutely 100% top form at the Olympics, something he might not necessarily have been able to do without the crash.

He got beaten in a lot of TTs lately, I will be very interested to know if the old superhuman Cancellara is back or if the crown has actually been handed over permanently.

All last year (cant count the last one) so it may have just been a temporary dip.

I don't think it will be long before we see him soloing into the finish or time trialing in for a win.

I wonder, is it possible for him to be in form for both the Olympics and the WC? I'm 100% sure he will want to defend his TT medal, but winning the WC road race would be very, very awesome.

I totally agree with you Maltiv! I think he was so disgusted with his last few months and more than a bit frustrated.
He needs and probably can't wait to get off of RSNT.

..also think he is a very good bet to take the RR...sure hope so.

I think Hog will ditch the Shlecks and work with Canc 100% in 2013. Push him to be a climber and try for the Tour.

He will be angry and hungry for a big win, and that anger will push him to win the olympic TT and road race, then he will win the world TT and road race champs.

And then he'll have to show off his new WC jersey so he'll finish his season by winning Lombardia:)

LOL!!! Not a prayer of Lombardia. WC is a longshot too IMO. Unlike the Classics Cancellara cannot rely on a full team to mark dangerous moves, he has to do all of it. Switzerland had 4 riders in last year's Worlds, compared to Italy, Holland & Belgium who had 9 each. Add that to Cancellara's lack of Amstel pedigree & knowledge, and I'll be very surprised if he can carry it off.

If he can conjure up a few sprinting efforts from last year, a few TDF stages/ the WC he could even become Olympic Champion.

He had great form going into Flanders, I see no reason why he can't come up in the Suisse.

How awesome would it be if Bruyneel's plan all along were to turn Cancellara into a TDF contender? Perhaps he already has started losing weight, increasing his RPM and is weighing his food? :p:D

I'm sure Andy could've been a great bottle-carrier!

Cancellara, what a hero!

The all out favourite of Paris-Roubaix, a man so marked, he was even followed when he dropped back to the team car and wins in a track sprint in a super-fast race after producing several selections and jumping from group to group.

Legend! :D

2 years! 2 years we've been waiting for Cance to again pull off the double. And at last...he has done it again! Deserved victory after the last couple years he has had. Very happy for him.
Most definitely a legend! :D

Hey, does everybody remember that 'is cancellara past his prime' thread? I think we have our answer. :D

For those who want to say he was lucky to win Paris Roubaix, doesn't every winner of a race like PR need a bit of luck
