2 years! 2 years we've been waiting for Cance to again pull off the double. And at last...he has done it again! Deserved victory after the last couple years he has had. Very happy for him.
Most definitely a legend! :D

Hey, does everybody remember that 'is cancellara past his prime' thread? I think we have our answer. :D

I thought that thread referred to time trials. There have been no indications that he is past his prime in classics.

Especially if you're trying to win with Cancellara in the race ;)

All I'm seeing is people saying he was lucky because Vanmarcke had the wrong tactics and wasn't smart enough, the OMQS got hit by fans and Boonen wasn't in the race.

But stuff like this happens every year, Cancellara outsmarted Vanmarcke, Stybar was unlucky but doubtful he would of won anyway, the other OMQS rider was going backwards and when Boonen won last year Cancellara wasn't there. Also lets not forget Cancellara was unlucky as he crashed twice this week so it's doubtful he was even 100%.

It's time for a new Cance vs Tommeke-poll!!!

Just for seeing Netserk going completely beserk when people vote for the overrated Cance in stead of the greatest cycling-legend Tommeke :)

Cancellara= ByeByeSkyLara...

Cancellara won on guts and cajones alone. None of this NASA-like, marginal
gains Sky crap. None of this ride to the front and slowly try to ride everyone off front wheel crap. Cancellara has cajones that have to be carried sidecar in a wheel barrow.

I'm not a big fan of Alberta Contador, but i do believe that she will light up Sky like cheap firecrackers at theTour this year.

Styby in my mind would have won the whole thing if not for that miserable unclipping mishap. In fact, he has bigger cajones than Cancellara and they don't even fit in a wheelbarrow. A small dump truck is required to transport them.

Another great win by Cancellara, definately one of the all time greats. I was just thinking earlier to myself. Cancellara is an excellent time trialist, former world champion on numerous occasions etc. Nowadays Tony Martin has taken over as the man to beat against the clock along with Taylor Phinney.Over the last number of years Martin has focused obviously on TT,s in stage races which have led to overall victories also plus a number of road stages also. Could he be a contender in the likes of Paris-Roubaix and Flanders. To me he seems ready made for Roubaix. Big powerful man who can generate huge power over long distances. Ok he is with Omega-Pharma-Quickstep who have Boonen, Chavanel, Terpstra et all. Just a taught I had. Ne opinions??

We've already had that poll and discussion multiple times across various threads.

Way to go Fabian!!!

And what about Boonen!?! He’s crashing every minute!!

Everyone has an off year, Cancellara had his last year following his RVV crash, and it seems that Boonen is having a crash related one this year.

I guess we have to wait until next year to see them head to head again.

I hope that RSL pay Cancellara a damn big bonus for the Double, he is certainly flying their flag well, as well as accumulating all important points for them as well as himself.

I would like to say SUCK ON THAT BJARNE but I won't because there are always two sides to a story and I guess Bjarne did get screwed over pretty bad, so he probably made his comments in anger a couple years ago. Remember he said Cancellara was only going to go downhill from now on, and for a while it seemed like he was right, but look at him now, he is right back at the top. Okay, the competition was not strong this year, but the triple is still the triple, and now he has done it again.

I would also like to say SUCK ON THAT NETSERK but that would be considered baiting and/or bashing and/or sinking to his level and result in a ban on my part so I won't say that either.

In any case... very happy for Fabian, he is one of my all-time favourite riders, just top class guy all around. A couple of years ago there was a poster named Ryaguas who would always call Cancellara "the c0cky c0ck" (mods: I am not trying to avoid the swearing filter, just quoting another user). Personally, I think this could not be further from the truth, I think Fabian is incredibly humble considering his massive success. But maybe the last couple of years with many, many 2nd and 4th places (even at WC RR in Copenhaguen) and crashes and injuries were humbling to him. They say "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger"... I think it made him stronger indeed!

The only thing really missing on his palmares is a road world championship (I consider LBL or Lombardia only possible in an extremely lucky scenario).

It's going to be tough though. Firenze and Ponferrada are looking to be two really difficult routes, he'll have to find his Mendrizio legs to compete in such a race. I don't know about Richmond, he'll be 33 by that time, I'm not sure how many more years like this he has in his legs.

I agree, he seems like a very friendly, down-to-earth guy to me, not arrogant at all. I never understood what that Ryagua guy was talking about.

Firenze: 32
Ponferrada: 33
Richmond: 34(closer to 35 as well)

1st: It was not the triple. It was the double plus E3. The triple is G-W, RVV and P-R. Only done twice.

2nd: How would that be sinking to my level? I have never said 'suck on that' or anything similar to any Canc fans when Boonen won. I don't understand your hatred.

Fabu is Top Shelf all the way, always has been, on and off the bike! Beast on the bike, family man after the race; looks for his wife to celebrate with :)

Would love to see him take a WC RR, that would finish off the palmares nicely. No likely to happen though :(

Only thing I can't figure out is why he sticks with RSL!

Nothing to suck on. Yes, he won the Double this year, he was the strongest.

But he also lost 6 Monuments when being one of the strongest in each and everyone of them and the Olympic time trial and Road Race by mistakes he personally made. I think that's a tougher pill to swallow for Cancellara fans. At least before this year. :p
