Cav Cheating the Time Cut?

I expect the officials looking away since they don't want to kick out a heap of riders. What I don't understand is why they just didn't raise the timelimit to 35 minutes or something...

Because it's about time sprinters do something hard instead of racing hard the last 500m.

He does whinge sometimes certainly more than most. To be fair if u don't subscribe to Twitter u could avoid most of him . He is also very team orientated and always gives them his there credit. He seems well liked by his team and do seem loyal so he can't be all bad.

Maybe he had a rear brake caliper that just would not stop dragging and needed repair every 2 minutes? Maybe he needed a fresh bottle every 30 seconds and each hand off took 20 seconds a la Floyd and Morzine?


Regardless, IF, and that is certainly an IF, he was hanging on or taking advantage and getting towed, that is really unfair to the others that actually pedaled up the hill.

It seems unlikely that a couple of guys, who clearly do not have the star status that Cav has, would make up a rather serious accusation like that. Not impossible, just unlikely, which imo would tend to make me believe it. The guys all get a little help on each bottle hand out, on each bike swap or puncture, so know the gig. To actually accuse someone of it would seem to have implied that the assistance was a little more egregious.

Ventoso finished ahead of him but perhaps one of his teammates or race director saw him? If Cav did it, I guess someone must have grabbed a picture of him doing it? Have yet to see a picture posted online by any tifosi. It certainly would not be fair for other sprinters if they had to work hard to make time limit the day before the sprint while he had lots of help.

As much as I dislike Cavendish, innocent to me until proven guilty.

While we're on dodgy maths - British Cycling have scientifically proven that the more whiners moan about Cav on cyclingnews the more popular and successful he becomes.

Two years ago he needed the whole HTC train to win, but thanks to the hate from armchair cyclists on here, he can now win just by sneaking onto the best wheel.

This has worked for him almost as well as the lesson in sneaky tactics he gets from the old fox Alejet in stage 2 of the GTs they are both in.

As has been pointed out - there have been more 'positive' or supportive comments than negative.

It was Ventoso who brought this out - if you can't handle anything negative said about Cav then thats your problem, not Cav's, nor anyones here.

Well he is, by his own account, the best sprinter in the world and that is only operating at "85%". As such 3 wins at mid May for the world's best sprinter is a problem.

That is true. I recall that he started last year at less than ideal form for the beginning of the season due to some type of early season dental work. This season I don't recall there being any such set backs but I could have just missed that news.

The only person not holding onto the car in that photo is Cav. Not saying he didn't do it too but he's obviously not the only one.
