here is a more recent article that seems to contradict that.

Clearly Stapelton is backing off a deadline, even while keeping open the option of pulling the plug at the end of the Tour.
Perhaps he feels that he has lent real value to the HTC sponsor, and if a team as successful as his can't keep or replace a sponsor, then perhaps cycling is no longer commercially viable. I think if he does pull the plug, that would be the reasoning for it. Why use your own money to keep something on life support if the prospects for it long term are so dim?
It's going to be impossible to keep his riders if something doesn't happen very soon, but whatever happens, I hope he decides to continue, even if it means doing so with minor sponsors and a reduced budget.
