HTC won't be announcing a new sponsor before the Tour. Therefore they can't make Cavendish any long term assurances before he can sign with Sky (or anyone else).

The same goes for anyone else on HTC whose contract is up this year. Do we know who they are?

I'm just hoping & praying Stapleton can pull a rabbit out of a hat and announces their new sponsor soon and that Cav stay's with HTC. I really don't think going to Sky would be a good move.

Haven't seen this anywhere else, but a danish news agency called Ritzau is saying Cavendish to Sky is confirmed. source (google translate)

Sort of skeptical as no one else seems to have picked up the story, and there's nothing on Sky's site.

I'll tell you what, it sure looked like Sky might have helped him today when Garmin went to the front.

Right, but here is a more recent article that seems to contradict that.

"Pressed for a deadline, Stapleton refused to publicly give a date, stating that the team would assess their position at the end of the Tour de France.

"'I don't think there's a deadline. Our goal is to see where we are at the end of the Tour and assess what's likely to happen.'"

Clearly Stapelton is backing off a deadline, even while keeping open the option of pulling the plug at the end of the Tour.

Perhaps he feels that he has lent real value to the HTC sponsor, and if a team as successful as his can't keep or replace a sponsor, then perhaps cycling is no longer commercially viable. I think if he does pull the plug, that would be the reasoning for it. Why use your own money to keep something on life support if the prospects for it long term are so dim?

It's going to be impossible to keep his riders if something doesn't happen very soon, but whatever happens, I hope he decides to continue, even if it means doing so with minor sponsors and a reduced budget.

G has already helped Cav out on a couple of stages ;)

Bernie G Renshaw Cav would be a ridicolous leaout , i don't know if Cav would be able to take is 2 bros with him but presumably G would just be happy to just to have someone who holds his wheel.

It is rapidly becoming the worst kept secret in cycling.

Good find, I haven't been following this but I'll buy that.

What are the whispers you're hearing- Will Renshaw and Bernie be part of the package?

renshaw has been rumoured but he still has a year on his contract. Not heard anything on Eisel. Think a lot depends on what happens about HTC sponsorship.

Wouldnt surprise me if stapleton finds a bit bucks sponsor and everyone stays to be honest. :D

So, I was getting a haircut today.

That's all. See you..

No, while getting my hair colored blue and my eyebrows done in green I read a quite interesting reportage on the Holm/Cavendish relationship. On why and when Cav dicided to move to Sky, how he wanted to stay with Brian and even wanted to pay his salaries to provide him a position at Sky even though there wasn't one. Some funny quotes and stuff from Brian as well - as usual

It's in danish but I ran it through the Google Translater and, if bothered, you should be able to get the most out of it. If not, it's a great read if you are danish.
