According to De Telegraaf, Boasson Hagen, Sutton, Swift and Henderson will do his lead work.

Uggh, hopefully that's just speculation. No problem with Sutton and Henderson doing it, but Swift needs to develop on his own, and surely by now Sky realise that EBH isn't a good enough sprinter to waste his talent on trying to be one.

Why would he go there for so little when its half what wiggins get? Nobody would believe that.

The article says he will get THE SAME as Wiggins.

HTC are obviously getting rid of all their sprinters so they can shape their team around winning the TDF with Tony Martin.

Boasson Hagen is way too good of a rider to do leadouts for Chavendish.

Nonsense. What has he won of note?

A train of, for example, Thomas, Henderson, EBH, Cav would be a cast iron guarantee of GT stage wins.

EBH in a free role or working for Wiggins guarantees absolutely nothing.

It's a great move for Sky and a great move for EBH, because he'd be involved in a team that wins regularly again. My only reservation is for Cav himself - he's spoken in the past of how Brailsford's methods don't really suit him.

Noones methods suit Cav from what he talks about.

Anyway Braislford apparently gave an interview to a Norwegian report and said that EBH will have to focus less on his sprinting.

Great move for British cycling.

Kids like winning and attitude and cool and Cav will make road biking more appealing to teenagers - all that stuff old farts and commisares hate like swearing, flicking the Vs and bunny-hopping over the line after destroying the best of the rest gives the sport a bit of attitude. Else they will just go dirt-jumping and then get bored when they realise they have to dig to ride.

And hopefully, it will make sprint stages less of a sure thing, although Sky's best leadout train will be pretty formidable. Especially as G and Wiggo will be on pursuit duty next year so it might be in their interest?

The person who learned most and eat most humble pie last year was Dave B, he will adapt his methods to Cav, not try and bend Cav to his methods.

EDIT - just seen the source - so that's assuming it's true.

I don't understand how Wiggins gets paid more than 2mill euros :confused:

For Cavendish yes, I'm amazed he didn't get that already tbh, 1 mill seems 'little'(might be the wrong word :p) who dominates every single sprint finish in the TdF(biggest coverage etc...)

Sky already showed their lead-outs are really good, they just miss a really fast man- like Cav.

Just hoping that EBH gets the chance to be something else than a leadout man...
strange also that Renshaw isn't coming... EDIT: as they are roommates in the races they do together, and Renshaw being one very good leadout man

Cav seems to be denying it on twitter?

Mark Cavendish
.... @HTCHighroad until the end of this year, and I'm concetrating now on #TourDeFrance. Also, please note, all quotes are 9 months old.

As always, I can't go 1 race without some sort of **** going on. At least it's not a crash this time! I will say I'm committed ...

So is Ben Swift IMO.

IIRC, and isso backed me up on this, that when Cav renewed until 2011, HTC had the option to automatically extend it until 2012 should the management decided to do so. So I guess either the rumours about HTC's demise is correct, or Cav has been offered money he can't say no to (and HTC couldn't match).

His contract was up until 2010 with an option on 2011 which they took up.

You and me both. I guess what Mr Murdoch wants, he gets. Whatever the cost!

I am not so sure a year or two of being Cav's leadout would be so bad for Swift. He gets to see how it is done at the real sharp end of a sprint finish and then Cav will be a bit older, maybe losing the kick and could be thinking more of winning some one days and big classics. So Swift takes over as the fast stage sprinter.

Looks like Sutton, Henderson, EBH, and Swifty may switch to other teams since this ****** will ruin their chances at winning.

If Renshaw stays with HTC, he'll still be stuck doing leadouts for maybe Degenkolb.

Renshaw is faster than Degenkolb imo

You must remember he signed that deal back in 2008 before winning his 4 stages.

Well yeah, but most of the time when a rider is going great they offer him a better contract/bonuses and stuff... It would be odd to have not done that with Cavendish

TBH I would be cautious about signing with Greenedge, after what happened with Pegasus.

Yes, and riders should be cautious before signing with Team Sky after what happened with Team Linda McCartney.

I think that's what his comments last October at the Commonwealth Games were refering to.

They must run a tight budget down at HighRoad. I'm sure Cav was amazed with his deal back in 2008.
