QS needed two riders to attack from the break and then play the numbers game - You reduce your chances by only having one rider.

Reduced sprint tomorrow. Girmay vs the Quicksteppers vs Trentin for the win. Van den Berg seems to be in good shape too, and maybe Kanter can survive. Will be interesting to see how Bouhanni goes in his comeback.

Don't think Trentin will start today. He was taken to hospital for X-rays after a heavy crash. Fortunately, no broken bones for him.

Ah, I am not so sure about Girmay. I suppose his eyesight is worse than before the Giro incident, so his performances have deteriorated after the incident.

Fingers crossed that he‘s good, though.

I want to see if Dekker can survive this (but maybe he is a leadout man for Bouhanni). He is always in perfect shape only in his first race of the season but last year he has that crash in Valencia wich was the beginning of a horrible year. He is putting some monster numbers in Strava every day, his power output for 1s to 30s is similar to De Lie, even better if we only look the 5s max or 10s.

An injury like that is dicotomic, either you lose sight or you recover well. If he had any lingering effect or heavy damage he wouldn't have scored a bunch of placings in august / september, probably wouldn't have ridden at all. Remember what happened to Marcel Wüst.

The normal pattern for team and rider numbers seems to not exist for these races.

EF and Euskaltel driving the chase for their non-existent sprinters with Intermarché, which should doom Politt.

But it's possible to only lose a percentage of your sight, which will still allow you to ride but affect your 3D vision and make racing, especially sprinting in a bunch, harder.
I hope it's all fine, but we really don't know I think.
