In a post by the Spanish team Burgos Berpellet BH, it seems the cancellation was caused by numerous crashes in the early kilometres. "Suspended #TrofeuAndratxPollença due to the numerous falls that occurred in the first kilometres," the team have announced.

Sounds like black ice and if it's raining too then, it will be extremely slippery. No point getting a season ending crash or worse in February.

Why would there have been black ice? As far as I can tell from Spanish weather agency data it didn't freeze at the elevation they were riding at at any point in the 24 hours leading up to the race and I can't find any statements to the contrary.

I can, however, find a statement by the race organisers, who are not happy. Loose translation: they had zero input in the decision to stop the race, disagree with the decision, see this as a lack of respect from the riders and doubt this would have happened if this was the Tour or Vuelta.
