I thought he looked quite slow, actually.
He made a mistake when he was boxed-in by Davide Bomboi. He had to wait a lot to launch his sprint and then had to cover a huge gap but he was coming back so fast. I think it was okayish for the first race of the season, altough I concede the field was pretty weak.

Roman Schwarzbacher is listed as his coach, so I would guess the likelihood is high

And here's an Italian interview in which he says that his father Roman is one of his big idols:

Politt crashed, probably because the barriers suddenly appeared out of nowhere in a completely ridiculous manner.
The first rider crashing into the barriers was Filippo Magli who DNFed, but he's fine.
Extremely dangerous finish. Obviously received zero scrutiny because it's a small race in January...

From the dry desert of Saudi Arabia to some rain drops in Spain - gotta love watching cycling!

It's good to see some green trees and about 55km to go

I don't understand why Tudor makes these races hard. Hirschi has like a 95% chance of winning if he goes to the last 400m in the front group, having teammates after Soler wouldnt be bad

Only if he enters the final 400 metres in the front 5, very hard to pass people there.

Signs of life from Henri Vandenabeele the last few days. Great to see. One of these riders who got hit hard by Covid.

Maybe, but look, this is just hard to control now. Has only 1 teammate cause he himself dropped 2 on the descent. I don't get it. Obviously maybe he makes the jump in a bit, if he's strong enough himself it could be fine but it's a risk imo

I'm not familiar with him and his wiki page doesn't say much, has he not raced for a while due to a particularly bad case of Covid?

He had a form of long Covid, struggled for 2 years, couldn't train how he should 2 days in a row without getting ridiculously tired afterwards. He had pretty good results at u23 level, then did good in his first pro race (Oman) but then Covid hit for the first time.

It's good he finally seems to be on the mend then!
