He was weeker in Dauphine after the crash and he is going to be weeker with this more serious crash at least till the first rest day.

That is good for the race becouse for me he is the strongest, and now maybe others are stronger. Tomorrow will be a bad day for him, when it was spected to be the stronger of the favourites with his team...

I don't think there are a lot of people who expected Froome to be one of the best of the GC riders on the cobbles

I did, but the downside was leaving Stannard (understandable) and Sir Wiggo at home.

In sunny conditions, the inclusion of these two riders would have allowed Froome to annihilate the field here imo.

Cobbles favors very strong TT'ers.

I have seen lot of times Contador and four times as well Froome, and there is no way, Froome is heavier and bigger. Nibali is more similar to Froome, and Valverde yes, he is bigger, but Valverde, and for me is not good to say that becouse there are a lot of smart people in my country, it is not the more intelligent to solve stages like this. He did well in RVV anyway, but...
I put Froome above others becouse he has some people on the team that could hel him better than others, as Geraint Thomas, Eisel, Pate, Kiriyenka,.. Contador as well has a good team, and he did ok last time on the cobbles in the Tour, but Froome is little bit stronger in the flat terrain. He is not Cancellara or Wiggins anyway.

(If you want to read what I think about Contador and Froome for this Tour you can read it in my signature. But it is spanish, I didnt translate this time, and the translation of the web is quite funny...but I think you would understand. I dont talk bad about Alberto and his chances ;):p)

Given the ambiguous words from the doctor it's pretty easy to assume he has an impossible task tomorrow

Richie Porte was available to back at 55 yesterday evening. (Around 10pm UK time.)

If Froome doesn't start this morning, wouldn't Porte become 2nd favourite to win the race?

He can climb. He can time trial.

An each way shout perhaps but he's prone to the odd shocking day. However on a good day he rode everyone off his wheel last year bar Froome. Obviously Contador is much stronger now.

I think he loses a little time tomorrow, but not the race.

He is lucky that Nibali has the jersey and the responsibility of controlling the race.

Agree - reckon he can lose up to 2mins to Contador and still be good to win. More than that... then Contadors to lose

All that energy wasted on humiliating Wiggins and that useless autobiography, hopefully this will humble him...needless to say he won't have his way again next year if Wiggo stays with Sky. Lesson learned (at last) for Brailsford? You would think that the 2011 fiasco would have been enough.

Now Porte and Froome will have the same fiasco. :)
