You can clearly see in this photo Froome is admiring Berties "Big Stem" Bertie clearly the alpha male
froome-contador2.jpg

Here is a sophisticated graph which clearly shows Bertie is more attractive and Froome "egg man " is rubbish

In Catalonia (?) Froome was dropped on first cat 2 climb , when he realized he doesn't "have" race legs

Here it seems he stays up no problem so i guess he will school the pretenders on saturday. And he also has a pretty big gap already and a ITT to come.

I still wait for him to simply go poof at some point and wave us good bye while converting to rouleur domestique or something like that.

hmmm he has 5 s on Spilak. If it rains in the ITT Froome could lose a lot of time, it's quite technical apparently and there are cobbles :p

It's about 1k shorter and the hill doesn't get as high (altitude wise) as last years. Can't say what the gradient of the climb is compared to last years. The profiles aren't the best.

Okay enough of that Ray J :D what do you guys expect on Saturday? Froome is allegedly a bit ill??

He'll be isolated on the penultimate climb and then Nairito, the Astana guys, Zakarin, Spilak and the Russians will attack him. Maybe he can hang on for dear life during the descent but he'll loose too much time to do something on Champex Lac.

in that case i could say that Tony Martis has a small chance to win it, the Dawg still the fave.

if you watch the video profile you will see that all descent has 1 (one) bend and the rest is almost straight line. Froome will not lose anything on descent.

if you look at today, IMO Froome looked like he was finding it a bit tough at times. Sitting well down the peloton and not in a position to counter an attack from the front. One of the Sky riders "not sure which one" even had to slow down and wait for him.
I want to see all the big guns on top form and racing including Froome. I hope he is OK but he don't look right to me.

True he was looking very bad,he's out of shape.I think after stage 4 he'll retire from the race.No reason to start the mountain stage to get dropped by everybody.

I can't really fathom what's going on with Froome this year, tbh. AC, I get, because he's had a different target, but Froome does seem pretty far off the boil.

But last year he showed he can hit the boiling point at the perfectly right time. :)
As long as he doesn't fall a whole bunch more, I have no doubt that he will be completely ready for his big goals.

He is probably trying different route to form? he was flying 2013. then 2014, he started getting back issue. Maybe all those hard training of spinning his pedals and sky skinny to your bone finally catch up with him. So he is trying to slow down maybe? I'm like everyone too, scratching my head. He is a bit of enigma this year. Not sure if he is indeed slowing down, or he is having issue with his health (he seems very fragile than 2012-2013). I have to watch today's stage to see what people were seeing him today.

All doesn't seem well for Froome at the moment. Its getting to the point where nobody would be surprised if he blows up and loses minutes again.

Let's wait until Saturday before drawing conclusions, but I agree it's a little worrying at this stage. I'd say Sky would probably want him in good form by the time the Dauphine comes around.

I agree, cant draw conclusions just yet and Froome has had days before that he looks horrific and then attacks a few minutes later :p

I think the form Froome " even wiggo" had early season during their tour winning years was dominant and unbeatable. Froome seems to be way off that and I can say the same for Bertie this year as well. Last year Bertie's form up until his tour crash looked sensational. No one looks great this year apart from Valverde and Qunitana has his "moment". It will be interesting to see how Froome and Quintana go. I don't expect Nibs to show anything. Its just one climb and looking at a 3 week race right now I don't think Froome would make top 5. I do think Quintana looks better at the moment, riding up front and attacking. I think he will be strong for Sat's climb. I hope Froome will be in good shape as well but I am not hopeful on what I have seen so far. Tour is still way off.
Dauphine will give us a more realistic assessment of tour form. I want them on all on top form and hopefully Bertie can influences the race as well if he's not to tired " from his majestic dominant Giro victory :D "

Hard work today,he carried everybody up the climb after spending some time at the back.I'm not sure he can win the race,Zakarin might have enough gap.But good performance so far given the uncertainty of his condition :)

Good analysis, he did crash as well in Flèche and he takes a while to recover with his fragility.

Maybe Sky should reconsider their Giro/Tour teams. I don't think Porte needs THAT strong a Giro team.
