Contador is actually a very defensive rider. Just remember his track stands with Andy.. Froome would simply never do this. And yes, you can call that tactically inferior, which it is, but it is fearless and confident. It seems that he always climbs to the best of his ability, undeterred by what everyone else does, always showing his cards. That's fearless and supremely confident.

Quintana may well turn out to be the better climber at the Tour. It seems to be what the markets expect. He may well have been the better climber today as well, but fearless and confident, he was not.

Oh please, track stands against the best climber he has raced against makes sense in the concept of the race at the time against a timid Schleck (god I miss him :( no I do). That was just down to respect, are you saying Froome would have went instead...just to be beasted by Contador..

If you really want fearless and confident to win a race, go watch Fuente De..might be before your time though...

Re: Re:

You seem to be confusing fearless and confident with tactically optimal. The two are not equivalent.

Fuente De was great (and not before my time, what a subtle dig though!). Thank god Contador was too weak to win the race in the MTFs so had to improvise and find such an epic way to win. Otherwise we'd have seen measured, defensive, tactically optimal riding after having done the damage.

Sorry but imo that Fuente De as great as he was,was eased by Katusha dumbness, that was the most stupid losing of the leader jersey i ever seen. Not saying that Contador is not an aggressive rider, which he is,plus he rides only FTW.

It was a dig because you pretty much troll all the time. I've not confused anything. I've been around enough to see Contador win and burn in every grand tour he has wanted to win in any GT he has targeted, bar non...Vuelta 2014 being the best excample...

It was clear today how much Nairo feared him.

Don't be silly. He just didn't have the legs. Same as Pais Vasco. So many words are wasted on this forum about tactics, mental state etc when 95% of the time it comes down to whether or not you have the legs. It's like with Froome. If he gets back to his best form with a good team to support him then he won't ride like this on climbs.

Hard work today,he carried everybody up the climb after spending some time at the back.I'm not sure he can win the race,Zakarin might have enough gap.But good performance so far given the uncertainty of his condition :)

Good analysis, he did crash as well in Flèche and he takes a while to recover with his fragility.

Yes, put in context of his crash and his terrible form at Catalunya, this is a very positive performance for Froome.

He rides by the numbers. No instinct, no guts, no imagination. He's nothing but a skybot.

What a load of tosh even by troll standards.

I would definitely take his power metre away. Only his ! Lol

This is getting boring. He's explained on more than one occasion that he isn't looking at his power metre when he looks down.

Aye. Where did the myth emerged from anyway? Wouldn't surprise me if this forum itself.

I do believe the myth started with Brailsford and Sky talking about how advanced they were/are with "science", numbers, and data.

Froome's rivals should be more worried by the fact that he's been left without teammates for such a long time and they couldn't dislodge him.
Yo-yoing and pulling the group was impressive enough, but coupled with the lack of the teammates gets another dimension.

I mean the claim that whenever Froome glances at his stem, he must be checking his powermeter.

In my opinion today was ok for Froome, he's improving his form and as we know it's all about July for him. I expect another big step forward come Dauphine. Let's be honest none of the 'big 4' have set the world alight so far this year.

Sporza commentators mentioned it like 10 times yesterday so I doubt it comes from this forum.

Didn't expect him to get the GC today from Zakarin, but he was a bit weaker than i thought.Never mind,i think his overall performance this race was pretty decent given the circumstances.I expect a better Froome in Dauphine.

Beaten by Majka, Bardet, Yates and even Morabito in a TT. Not the super-Froome we saw in 13' and 14'.

Good job there's no TT at the Tour then.
Maybe his weight loss have weakened his TT. Or maybe it's just the rain. He has mentioned that he doesn't like the rain. That's why he skips a race as The Tour of Basque Country.
