He will be under enormous pressure in the alps because obviously, nobody wants to be the guy who looses after he has a 3 minute lead. However the good thing about that is obviously that he has a 3 minutes lead. The most important thing is his team. If he is isolated on the Allos/Glandon/Croix de Fer he will loose time, maybe not even on quintana because he will mark him as good as possible but I think there is a possibility of another contender coming close to froome again if he is isolated. So maybe the tour isn't over for AC yet.

Froome seems to cope with being isolated the best out of the big four. Contador is great at coping with it too as we saw in the Giro this year.

On a serious note - all he needs to do is follow Quintanas wheels. But it'll be interesting to see what he does if Quintana goes from far out, and Thomas/Porte isn't up to the task.

Only bad luck beats Froome at this stage. Porte and Thomas will be important to Froome in the Alps but so far Froome has seemed solid. No panic at all but there is no doubt that Quintana is improving and I think is the only serious danger to Froome. Valverde and TJVG often have a bad day in the mountains which is why they have never podiumed before. Contador looks fatigued but will try things of course but like 2011 it won't be enough. Give Contador Quintana's legs the race may not be over ! Froome and his team have looked very consistent so far. You would think the Alps will suit him even more than the Pyrenees.

Seem to remember that the 60 km area was where it occurred, these morons are destroying a terrific free spectator sport,
they must be prosecuted for assault and made an example.

If posters on this thread are really defending throwing a cup of urine on Froome then I think that's truly disgusting, shame on you.
The sport is so much worse for forum fans like this, disgusting!!!

Nobody's defending this, however there is a noticable lack of outrage here, which I am convinced wouldn't be the case with any other rider.

On the other hand, I guess people have become a little jaded towards the stupid behaviour of the *** fringe of cycling fans - it's not really surprising this happened, and it wouldn't be surprising if it happened to other riders either.

Well the journo heard it from spectators - I do think it's odd no other cyclist has backed up Froome's story

I wonder if the urinators are aware, one of Brailsford's longer-term goals is to win Le Tour with a French rider because he thinks the lack of French interest due to their last win in 85 is damaging for the sport? I then wonder how the French media and those mountain urinators will cope with the dilemma of a Frenchman leading Le Tour directed by an Engishman?

Obviously the French public would be enthusiastically supportive if there was a credible French contender, let alone a somewhat dominant rider in the Tour, whether he rides for Sky or any other team.

It is highly unlikely a person who interferes with a sporting event by throwing things at certain riders is intellectually consistent.

How would other cyclists know what had been thrown? They'd see the colour of the liquid but not much else..

Only person that can really have any credibility in knowing would be the person that threw the liquid and the rider that got hit by it.

Beer makes more sense to be honest, and if Froome wiped it away quickly he might have just made a wrong assumption.

No my point is, and others have made this point as well, we have seen riders back up Porte's story of getting spat on, why has no one seen Froome getting whatever liquid it was splashed in his face?

Logically it maybe due to the frenetic nature, of riders jostling for position in the peloton they missed it. Concentrating on their own race, protecting their team leader. Reporters have also suggested that Rowe was also spat in the face as well.
