another underwhelming perfomance from froome. i have an impression that sky intentionally gave froome a weak climbing team to look how he goes with a minimal team support in the dauphine. his average form combined with lack of climbers in this squad don't bode well for tomorrow. froome obviously needs a big leap of form to overtake richie in the tour.

I doesn't look like lacks suport though. He got Kwiatkowski with he almost all the time and he did pretty good job so far.

He just doesn't look painfully skinny, which he has done for the past few years. As horse racing trainers might say "He's carrying a bit of condition". I might be wrong ... maybe my eyes deceive me. That's all I am going on. Of course there may be a 2017/Sky/clinic reason for this.

Looking for visual clues regarding riders weight is pointless. Rider can look totally different depending on lighting, camera angle or even jersey he wears. You won't see 2-3 kg differences, it's impossible. A this moment of preparation they all should be very close to their optimal weight so it won't change much.

If you say so. I know that I can see an extra kilo on my athletes without much difficulty.

Looks as he's done in the past to me, but I can only really see the excess weight so often discussed in Betancur

Yeah I usually look at the arms and especially if they're on top of the bars arms look way bigger than in the position right now. I've kind of given up on estimating weight based on photo's cause I go from fat to skinny and back on pictures that are on the same day.

That said, I think Porte is the leanest, relative to what I've seen from him before.

Any visual clues as to why Froome suddenly has several kilo's to lose whereas others don't?

This from the moderator who said Porte had "chubby" arms.

You should be able to tell with comments like that.

Porte is actually heavier than he was last year. That's kind of obvious.

The man is 5.7" tops, maybe a centimeter or 2 over and is sub 60kg at race weight in the final week of a GT.

He's not a big man.

Not as light as Quintana, but he's small. They all are.

He is the same weight there or abouts as he was last season.

Evidence?

His training videos on social media from Monaco during the F1.

Same size as he always looks.

Weight is not his problem.

the guy wants to win tour-vuelta

he's fine.

Exactly.

Are Sky looking as strong as last season?

No.

What I want to know, is whether or not Landa is racing le tour or the Vuelta?

Landa is by far the most talented rider Sky have not named Chris Froome. Someone needs to take Poels place this year in the domestique train.

The guy rides a great attacking race today (don't think anyone attacked more than him) and gets insulted? Lol?

Can't win.

I don't know, but I'm not convinced he can get to his top shape in time for the TDF.It will be a very hard Tour for him this year. He's still the main favorite, but he's got a lot of work in front of him.
Anyway i loved the streams of attacks today despite not being in great shape, good attitude.

Froome above all has shown he's a professional. He's going to fight for the win and not ride as a team member of another team. That's what he's paid for. Gotta respect that.

I respect those less like Cataldo who just ride for another team.

Can you explain what the *** you're even talking about, Galic?

The sprint thing was kind of shitty, I agree, but not necessarily intentional. Today I didn't see anything out of the order. Froome wanted to win, so what?

Galic Ho's posts have been removed, as well as those who replied to him as he broke forum rules.

Let's get back to Froome talk. He tried and attacked multiple times, credit for that, unfortunately as I feared he paid for it on the final climb.

Arms to an extent, but face more. I might be wrong but I bet he looks more gaunt and less "healthy" at the tour. He seems to drop his weight a kilo or two for the tour. He puts it back on again pretty sharpish afterwards.

Surprised if Froome finishes on the podium at the TDF.

If he doesn't suffer any bad luck then I just can't see it. He would have had to seriously have blown his preparation to not be fighting for a top 3. He seems happy enough with his shape and as he's said from the start, he wants to do the Tour-Vuelta double.

I think for Sky.. all hands on deck. They won't leave any climber at home. If Dauphine is the tell sign of what's coming in the Tour, thenFroome will need his teammate. I think Landa will have to ride the Tour. Kwia did a great job, but he is no Landa.

Froome calling Porte the favourite for the Tour, and for the first time, the bookies agree.

Personally, I still think Froome has another gear, he usually does after the Dauphine. He will definitely be worried about the imperious form Porte has but he only finished about 1:35 down; time to worry for Sky if it's 10, 15 minutes in my opinion.

Everybody is 'happy' about their shape. Froome could literally have crashed into a wall and he would have been happy, saying that crashing into that wall was all according to plan.

I don´t think Froome was so bad like that. He isn´t so strong this year i agree, but he is strong and was brave with that attacks. He tried to win, that is a good thing.

Then people have to see one thing, i personally don´t like sky train, but this is what we will have in the Tour, here you didn´t had even 1 of them... Thomas, Landa, Henao, Powels... Ufff, i don´t know if the race will have days like today what is a pity.
