He's just padding his retirement account. I wouldn't retire either if someone was stupid enough to pay me 5.5 million per year.
You make it sound like Israel pay 5.5 m to some random guy. Yes, many people would gladly allow someone to pay them great deal of money, but only a few would've agreed to live in the regime froome's sticked to for about 10 years. -) Big difference.

Prediction: Froome to win on LSPDBF from the breakaway, take yellow. (Bonus: will then defend yellow and win 5th Tour.)

Here is a serious question. What is Froome's role/goal for this race? Is he supposed to be supporting Fuglsang? Looking to get into a break-away? Top 50 GC? Finish the race? Lead the grupetto on the mountain days so the sprinters don't accidently get DQ'd from finishing over the time-limit?

none of the above.

it is to zubeldia his way...but to 70th position on GC.

Every interview he says he is taking it 'day by day'

That could mean
-wants to go for gc but deep down knows he isn't good enough. But won't admit that
-doesnt want to go for gc but isn't creative enough to work out how to stage hunt, or can't let go of his gc instincts. So just languishes about
-is a gregario but doesn't want to admit it to the media, partly because Fuglsang and Woods won't get a top 5
-just taking paycheck and the team select him for publicity
-is going to stage hunt later on but wanted to see if he could stay on gc first (he couldnt)

I bet not even he knows what his goal is

nice company!

50th overall at the Tour. I mean, nowhere close to competing for the win obviously, but he's better than expected. Still don't think he can win a stage though. Seems like he can hang on better than before but haven't seen any sign he can attack with any power.
If he top 20’s that be really good progress. He will not win a TDF anymore. Best if he stops talking about that. But if he enjoys riding, good for him.

But a bit funny that he races every stage to the line, while the guys around him are just cruising. Froome fighting for GC in the middle of the pack

We obviously don't know which riders went full gas. We don't know if he did either. Still he wasn't able to do this last in the last couple of seasons, so that's at least progress.

The time they showed him being dropped he tried very hard to hold on, while other riders just let go.
