Another Sagan Special for the year - a good salary for zero results.
At least Sagan was 32-33 when (2022-2023) he raced for TotalEnergies and, albeit getting a crazy salary, at least it was only a two year contract.

Froome in 2021 was already 36 and had been doing way worse than Peter, yet got a 5 year generous contract from Israel:
what were they even thinking?

Chris Froome successfully completed Stage 2 of the Tour of the Alps.
He rolled in with the final group and was given a 73rd place finish out of the 91 riders who crossed the line.
Froome is now 77th overall - just 28mins 49secs behind the leader after two tough mountainous stages.
It is great to see him 'get back into the rhythm of the racing' and 'up to speed with the peloton' and get those all-important 'miles in the legs.'
Looking good for July!

Sagan's decline was gradual. Froome's decline is similar to his early career. He went from nothing to everything, and he's gone from everything to nothing.

Sagan was pretty damned washed post COVID, he had like one highlight Giro stage win and then another Giro sprint win a year later and that's about it.

Welcome back Christopher Clive Froome.
After suffering a broken collarbone at the UAE Tour in February the just-completed five-day Tour of the Alps was a comeback race for him.
Today, Froome was placed 76th out of the 78 finishers, 1hr 18mins and 43secs behind overall winner Michael Storer.
Great stuff.

Thanks for the update Tony.

In such an attritional race merely finishing is a victory, like a stage race version of 2010 Kuurne-Brussel-Kuurne.

This was a real statement ride, propelling his teammate Gee to 3rd, and a sign of better things to come. Well done Chris.

You guys can call me crazy, but if I were Chris Froome, there is no amount of money you could pay me to ruin my reputation and go out as a fourth tier domestique to a third tier GC rider on a third rate team. Does he have no pride at all?

if you were cheating while at sky, riding around for big money clean isn't harming your rep at all

A dark part of my mind would be 'concerned' I might end up in one of those accidents-but-not-really like a helicopter crash/car crash/not-so-consensual suicide if I scammed some of these groups and individuals out of millions every year.

There is intense focus on the link in the money chain involving Israel Premier Tech and Chris Froome. To have a fuller understanding of the situation, you would need to look at the money chain before this link and after this link. This would give a wider picture of the costs, benefits and obligations on all the stakeholders.

Somewhere between no pride at all and an amount of pride that a few million dollars a year can fully acquit.
Do we know how much his net worth was before of the IsrealPT contract?

5.5 millions per year, is a lot of money.

For reference: Pogi "only" makes 8 millions per year.
Obviously I'm putting aside sponsors/endorsments ( I don't even know how much he gets from those), but still...

He is starting to find some consistency

Stage 1: 74th
Stage 2: 73rd
Stage 3: 76th
Stage 4: 76th
Stage 5: 71st
Overall: 76th

Consistency is the key in stage racing! Not at his peak yet but still lots of time till July. Pogi and Vinnie won't even know what hit them but they should have a nice battle for the 2nd.
