Talent always recognised

To be fair to Froome, his talent has always been recognised by his coaches even if he had not been able to reach it in his early professional years. He was also a domestique for many of those years, so it would not necessarily result in podium finishes if he was assisting his GC rider in many of the races. Here is an interesting bit of research I found (quite old) http://froome19.blogspot.co.uk/2013/01/chris-froome-doping.html

Andy Schleck has said today Froome dont impress him a lot.. he is more impressed by Quintana.

He said he did best time on Ventoux attacking earlier in the climb, and that is true.

But anyway, although Froome is not vso impresive in the climbs, as Quintana or Purito beated him when the were without problems, he is consistent and very complete, so it would be very dificult for Andy to beat him on the Tour.

Andy need to have his previous level.

That's the trouble with Andy. He talk a lot but don't perform a lot.

I read the linked blog post, and I don't agree for a minute that lack of technical skills for 3 or 4 years was the explanation on lack of results.
Noone at World Cycling Centre helped him on time?
While it's valid to praise Corti's quotes and experience, the Italian did nothing to correct his technical limitations in a couple of years (??).
Sky and nobody worked on his form in 2010?
I mean such talent should have overcome that limitation
Some minor results (secondary positions in TT) are highlighted in the "dark years" as proof of quality, but many Pro riders got equivalent results, without going to dominate TdF.

I am not making any assumptions, I'm just criticizing an article brought here.

that's because corti is an idiot, he recognises talent but knows nothing to do with it. just see how he's destroying colombian talents for past years in coldeportes. he also f'd up soler

does anyone knows about what Froome has been doing these days? I only saw a video from brad stating that he'll be join force with Froome a lot more starting with TA. Froome is currently in South Africa and he will start his season at Oman. I haven't heard any news about Sky this, Froome this and that. Last year everytime I read cycling news, it's all about sky and Brad this, Brad that. This year... nada. Not even about what Froome plans etc. Even Porte starts in TDU, not much report on that. And Tinkoff team, who is only doing a training camp got a lot more press coverage.

I was wondering ...

Hush hush. According to the cyclingnews forum, he went from no one to someone. It's not like in the ONE GIRO STAGE EVERYONE REFERS TO, he was in the break the whole day, attacked the break on the final (10% +) climb, got a major gap on the break and the field, including GC contenders and then blew up vino-style as a result of said attack. Nope. Doesn't matter that he was young and inexperienced. HE HAD NO TALENT. (facetiousness for those unaware)

I'm not defending him persay, but to use this example as proof of illicit activities is as silly as claiming a classics stud, elite triathlete, TDF stage winner and world champ had no talent. There are things we can't quite explain with normal physiology, but the talent is real, even though it is possibly, shall we say, augmented?

I see Gilbert has said Froome will ride Milan San Remo this year. Surely odds of Froome to win it at 250/1 are too generous? Ok, he is not a favourite, but the added climbing helps him. What do you think?

Go through his palmares and note millions of one day races he has won, monuments he has performed well in, experience at MSR, and that he hasn't said he'll ride it, no 250/1 is not too generous. After he says he's riding, maybe.

While I'm far from an expert gambler, no, those odds are not generous enough for me to put money on Chris Froome to win at MSR. That is extremely hard to imagine. Unless Sky have completely revamped their one day tactics, it's extremely unlikely, and even if they have MSR is not going to be a priority for Froome, and is probably too early in the season for him to peak.

Good luck dropping Cancellara and Sagan on 4%.

maybe he think that his new 'batman robin' duo with wiggins, would give both of them a chance. :p At least he tries, you know, nothing wrong with that.

i would say froomey is stronger than in 2012 but not by much
nibali on the other hand, is much stronger
it will be quite the battle this july.vino and vincenzo never give up

Battle would be nice. I think Froome will rip Nibalis bollox off.

Why are Froome fans allways so mean to Nibalis huge cojones? :p

Well, Nibali couldn't keep up with some random old man in the Vuelta. What makes you think he can battle Froome?
If it had a Giro like course maybe.. but the Tour is softy.. and in the high mountains and ITT Froome is better..so.. unless Nibali makes some miracle on the cobbles it aint going to happen
