When Froome has the wherewithal to shush, push or punch aggressive fans out of the way, he's on great form and a deastating attack will soon commence
To say that Froome rides mechanical and too calculated I think is unfair, he's xtremely aggressive, will attack in all terrain and is willing to risk it all on one bet. In that respect, I think the likes of Dumoulin, Qintana, Thomas, Majka, Porte etc are much more conservative.
Froome is more like a Nibali type, but not quite Contador of course. He' an exciting dude to watch, doing extreme things that are unheard of, like trying (seriously) to win 3 GT's in a row, when he could be almost certain to win the Tour a 5th time. Constantly upping the ante, and bringing the hype. Now, if he had focused exclusively on the tour, and smashed it every year since 2013, he would be boring for cycling, but he changed it up and challenged himself every year.
