He is probably starting to get ill, because he did not race in early March he managed to avoid it. He will probably try to push on in hope it gets better so he can build on the Mercan Tour form to make the TDF team however in the end not abandoning when ill usually makes the situation worse.

I've been lurking for ~2yrs (even longer on the main site) and finally got baited to register. I had written a big text wall, but will keep it at this (insert sarcasm):

If Froome managed to become 64th in a 32k WT TT while "feeling a little off" (remember just two months ago people were discussing his 111th place in Bartali vs. 11th place recently), at just 1:30 from the top 10, then imagine what he could do in 1-2 months from now. Froome winning the Vuelta confirmed.

You're maybe right. But there's a huge section of (casual) cycling followers out there who're actually really positive towards Froome right now (in France in particular, judging by online comments, i.e. because the story of the former champion now struggling is traditionally a popular one here), but it's fickle.

One small headline "Israel-Premier Tech relegated" & all those same people will suddenly realize Froome wasn't free to just ride around for vane reasons. There are consequences & they're called UCI points.



And this is why he gets roasted in some parts.

Hint: all riders have niggles, pains, illness & feel like hell on their bike. With Froome it's just one hilarious excuse after another excuse. He posted the same cr*p on Instagram as well, i.e. spamming his social media accounts with the same post & getting those likes & well wishes he craves.

To Chris Froome's credit he managed to reattach himself to the peloton and was still with it (although the final rider) with 28k to go.
What a brave ride.

The content of his comments, videos etc. is so entirely vacuous, so repetitive ("I'm getting better guys!" or "Oh I didn't feel so good but onwards & upwards!") whilst the responses beneath are also in the same vein (which I'll paraphrase as "stay strong Froomey don't listen to the haterz ur the best!"), it's all a legendary p*sstake of massive proportions.

Froome is a good troll though, I'll give him that.

In your estimation, someone who (apparently) involuntarily lost 5 minutes on a stage like today, is strong enough to get in a break and win in the mountains?

Froomie has moved himself into 76th place, down by 11:19. How much time did he put into the field at the Giro stage 19 where he went into "Landis" mode? He might have to go earlier than 80km out though.

Tomorrow could be one of those days where legends are made.

I totally get your point of view and I totally disagree because I have my own point of view on the subject matter.
Neither point of view is factually more accurate than the other.

They are simply what they are: point of views.

When people start stating opinions as facts is when I start to cringe. Especially if it’s about what other people could/should/would think.

You can deduce all you want but the bare truth is you simply can’t tell. Full stop.

That isn’t to say: ‘don’t express your opinion’ Just keep it contained and say ‘I think such and such.. ‘
