He’ll make millions while recovering from one of the least painful breaks you can get. He’s 40, not 80. He’s not going anywhere until that contract is fully milked.
Can't argue that, as long as the money is good... how many more years does he have left on his contract? (I've lost track.)

I think this is the final year with IPT. I remember reading something about him thinking about continuing after this year, but who would pay him? He needs to bow out this year. Maybe hope for one final high placing in a bigger race, but he is just a shell of his former self. It's painful to watch this guy. Move on Chris and enjoy normal life.

i believe that in some stage of this year, he will come to "early retirement agreement" with the team, so he will still get all his money, while the team will be able to replace him with a more useful young rider. i think this injury just speed up this agreement.

Seems reasonable. As long as he gets paid he’ll be fine with it.

It is tragic how the second half of Chris Froome's career has been destroyed by events out of his control conspiring against him.

2019: One-in-a-million ferocious blast of wind seems to single Froome out, sending him crashing into garden wall, fracturing multiple bones.

2020: Appalling lack of support from Team INEOS during Froome's comeback season as he sought to "build back to top form" - hitting Froome's morale by their baffling decision not to extend his contract.

2021: The quest for Tour de France No.5 is cruelly ended on Stage One during a horror pile-up, leaving Froome with multiple injuries. He stuns the world of cycling by somehow defying medical science to finish the race. What if he had been fit? Surely he would have challenged for yellow.

2022: Amateur Hour continues at Israel Premier Tech, hampering Froome's journey to "regaining my best form" with sub-standard organisation and equipment failures, best exemplified by Froome finishing outside the time limit at the early-season Tour of the Alps.

2023: Israel Premier Tech owner Sylvan Adams' personal attack on Froome shocks the sport, with the wild claim the four-time Tour de France winner has been "absolutely not value for money." The internal squabbles understandably affect Froome's form on the road, illustrated by his 63rd-place finish at Tour of Hainan.

2024: Another injury blow, scuppering Froome's return to the front of the peloton. He is forced to abandon Tirreno Adriatico with a fractured wrist just as it appears a return to his best is around the corner. The cycling Gods continue to thwart Froome.

2025: Can Chris Froome get a break? Plans for a season competing strongly in the Grand Tours are thrown into doubt in his first outing of the season. While biding his time in 75th place at the UAE Tour he is taken out on Stage 7, resulting in a fractured collarbone. Sadly, it seems we will have to wait until 2026 for his return to greatness.

Chris Froome (Israel Premier Tech) underwent surgery in Dubai after breaking his collarbone on the final day of the UAE Tour.

The four-time Tour de France winner hit the deck on Sunday’s final stage of the race.

Israel Premier Tech later confirmed that the 39-year-old would be assessed on Monday morning.

We can confirm that the medical checks resulted in surgery just a few hours ago. This will mean Froome could be back on the turbo trainer as early as tomorrow. However, his return to Europe has not yet been finalised, and he could remain in Dubai for a few days as he recovers from the surgery. We understand that this will depend on the surgeon’s recommendations.

@Coffeeplanter, I need your expert knowledge about Froome.
He's definitely washed, and quite a thief, even if you could argue that he's so irrelevant - in terms of racing - that he's not even that, and that hairline?

Not exactly great...

Ha, I've always thought that Froome and Axelgaard looked a bit alike.

well. Last weather Forecast say that they are going to avoid rain at the time of the race and alesys clear tail wind. Maybe a little rain at the start and no more. And windy just at the end and gust no more than 30..so operfect conditions for bike Racing if is like that..Pogacsr should try to attack with all at Cipresa.

And... how does Froome feature into all this?

Any chance Froomey shows his best in the last year of his contract so that a top team could take him for the next few years? Vacation is over, Froomey should be motivated this season! I wouldn't bet on Teddy or Vingo at the Tour...
