Why would Froome compete in the Criterium du Dauphine as Tour de France preparation?
Why give his big three rivals a front row seat as to his current condition?
Much better to sharpen up the form and get into the 'rhythm of the racing' away from their prying eyes.
The Tour de Suisse also finishes a week closer to the start of the Tour, which allows Froome to hold the form over a shorter period of time and begin the quest for number Five at his peak.
Fingers crossed Israel Premier Tech properly commit to Project Five with the best team around him, devoted to the cause.

Not even close between him and Pogacar.
For all his classics - Froome's GTs outweigh them. Plenty of time for Pog though.

Twice the amount of pro wins. 9 monuments and world championship don't make up for one extra tour and 2 vuelta's? LOL.

Today Chris Froome completed Stage One of the eight-day Tour de Suisse.
He finished 98th and in the largest group of riders, 11min 15secs behind the winner.
A solid start for Froome in a race I don't think he will be putting himself under pressure to win.
These eight days are an ideal opportunity to 'get back into the rhythm of the racing' to 'get back up to the speed of the peloton' and get those all-important 'miles into the legs.'
In short, the perfect preparation for July's Tour de France.

Stage 1..eleven plus back..disgraceful. And it's June, his training should have his level very high, much of his early years considered fast, had a reputation as a solid TT rider, guy is GT winner he should be more prepared. If he gives back another 5+ minutes tomorrow, he should just pay attention along the roadside, look for a tall child or man and give away his bike, walk to nearest bar or back yard BBQ were he is better suited. 40 years old and didn't do the homework.. Embarrassing
when cadel evans retired, the team decided to let him go on his last tour as a reward out of respect.
he had a weblog diary back then when he described this tour and the views he now could see on his way because he was just soft paddling all along the tour doing absolutely nothing. just tagging along the peloton and finishing in the grupeto. i guess that this is what chris froome should aim for in this tour.

The biggest fraud in the history of pro cycling deserves nothing.
unlike last year, this year most of their riders are in poor shape, so taking froome as part of the team will not change much, also the fact that he will be there will draw all the focus of the other riders performance.
also there is a predicament from last year - the team took Williams as a "protected rider" and he didn't do a thing, not even helping the Ackerman train.

Sylvain Adams is a fool, but one thing you can't take away from him is that he is a vindictive man. Froome is going to Siubu Tour, and frankly that level of racing is too high for him.

Will dream #5 happen this year? Pogi and Vingo are good but nobody ever finished his career with 4 TdF titles, it simply can't happen plus Chris is fighting for a new contract...

Chris is just doing Z1 before the Tour. He is doing mind games, those guys don't know what will happen in the Tour. He is not even trying.
