Hasn't been for the duration of his time at IPT...

It's been a pleasant retirement with relaxing pedaling and visiting some interesting places. If he wants another 5 years of luxury he should finally show his real level this year!

Another solid day in the saddle for Chris Froome at the Tour de Suisse.
He did not waste unnecessary energy pointlessly staying with the main peloton of leaders on Day Two.
Instead Froome kept his powder dry, stayed safe and kept out of the wind to finish in a large group of quality riders 8mins 12secs behind today's winner.
It is vital he gets eight quality days of World Tour-level riding in before tackling the Tour de France and Project Five.
So far, so good.

I mean, there are thousands of amateurs who are better than him at the moment who barely can fit 15 hours of training into a week. How can an athlete with that pedigree be this bad given that it is his full-time job?

honestly, i'm starting to suspect that Blackmore got infected with the froome virus also...
i think the frooming situation in the team is worst then i suspected. it seems that everyone that rides with chris is get froomed!

He's 40.
Lot of miles on the odometer.
Who knows what long term residual damage there is from his crashes?
He is unwilling to "prepare" in the same way he did. Why risk damaging his reputation?
He gets paid (too much) no matter where he finishes.
Doesn't see any reason to climb into the same pain cave that he used to inhabit.
He just doesn't care anymore.

Good news! he's on course to finish in the top 150! Don't be all negative nancy about him being half an hour down - he's clearly saving himself for a mega attack & he'll make up all the time and then some.

I’d like to see him do the alien spin attack one last time off the front even if there are 200km to go in the stage and he abandons after. Would be a fitting way to retire the strangest career in cycling

Chris Froome continues getting "up to speed" with the racing and has another satisfactory day on Stage Three of the Tour de Suisse.
He now has approximately 500km in the legs at race speed in just three days so definitely heading in the right direction.
Having deliberately given up time Froome will now be free to stretch his legs in a possible breakaway during today's Stage Four, without being chased down by the favourites.
The stage could have been designed for him, with a Category One topping out 47km from the finish line.
It could be a 'mini Finestre' spectacle for the fans.
All positive signs for July.

He is 54 minutes back, dunked his head in the bike racing toilet today..20 minutes down on today's stage. So you have to ask is Froome a bigger disgrace than team paying handsomely to wear their kit. What is the team's objective? The Office does cycling? Michael Scott goes racing!!David Brent does bikes?

It was a little disappointing not to see Froome competing at the front of the race on Stage Four of Tour de Suisse.
He's probably doing things his way and aiming to peak for Project Five in July.
We can only hope his team have the necessary faith in his talents.
Currently sitting 126th out of 141 remaining riders and 53mins 35secs behind the overall leader.
Maybe he will stretch the legs on Stage Five.

Swiss media did an interview with Froome the other day. He is happy with what he does, and to be an example for his kids.

For him, the Tour de Suisse is mainly about getting back in the rhythm, but doesn't know if it will lead to a final Tour de France selection. If not, he would also enjoy to visit the race as a fan instead.

NEWS FLASH! :
Chris Froome has just been dropped from the peloton near the top of the second Category One climb of the day.
That means he must have stayed with them over the first Category One climb of the day.
That's what I like to see, little steps, just building up the form.
