Please be careful taking the list you mention as generated objectively. It's reasonable to believe that the list values are moderated given Pat's public discussion of the criteria including 'aspirations' among a host of totally subjective criteria mentioned.

I'm not so sure about that. Why would RadioShack and Astana, AC's team at the time, average as the dirtiest teams? I think this was a top secret list drawn up by non-political people.

A point about the suspicion list. As I understand it, it was based on the rider's history before the 2010 TdF. I make no allegation about Chris Horner - his improvement might be a good response to training and beetroot nitrate - but he didn't ride the previous tours with RadioShack. It's possible the suspicion list has changed quite a bit since July 1st of last year. Contador, for instance, has probably moved up to 8 or 9 simply because of his positive and plasticizer readings.

Ok, lets see how Chris kicked *** BEFORE the 2010 TdF.
Kicked *** with a pristine blood profile of 0.0000000000000:

1st Overall Vuelta al País Vasco
1st Stage 6 ITT
2nd Overall Giro di Sardegna
4th Overall Tour of California
7th La Flèche Wallonne
8th Liège–Bastogne–Liège
10th Amstel Gold Race

BTW, Chris did not train in seclusion during May2010 due to "allergies" sniff sniff.

It's a good point. My only caveat is we don't know how much he was tested during that period.

Thanks for the analysis. I really value your insights. They are hard to come by.

Beet juice as a PED is an interesting case. It doesn't kill, it's cheap and it's widely available. I would allow it.

But, if beet juice would actually enhance performance, it sets off the pharmacology arms race for the chemical elements in the juice providing the performance enhancement to be isolated, patented, then dosed to life threatening levels. Can't allow that.

As for Horner's performance, only power and blood data over many days could give clues as to his doping likelihood. Also note, the field is not deep at ToC as compared to say, the Tour of Switzerland. A breakout performance is very likely based on the population of riders he's racing against.

Chris did beat Valverde at the Pais last year, no?

The list highlights the problem with averages. It doesn't sufficiently describe the extremes in the list. This is especially true in the tiny population given.

Thought this thred was dying when i commented earlier but now the "new name offered " is more appropriate to the recent comments!

Fact is that the morning that Chris made the TDS Podium i was on the Pullman chatting to him and asked him say "Aider Handisport" when he reached the podium that night ! Of course he forgot , in fact his french was horrible !

Talent with a big smile a yard wide describes this popular athlete and those with their Axe to grind are the losers as he "COULD CARE LESS" about your thoughts !

Wonder how many of you use a separate IP address for your posts that in the light of day are worthless ?

Just read that obscure item on Lance in that "prestigious blog" ! Can now see how little it takes to crank up the " exercise machine" you guy use to denigrate Horny and other achievers . What with the jumping to conclusions ,etc the only other exercise you need is to flex your fingers .

Beetlejuice?

Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice!

There, is everything back to normal again?

Oh yeah, Beet juice—the new pomegranate.
For centuries, the pomegranate has been valued as a symbol of health and has been the centerpiece of many traditional folk medicine practices. In 1998, POM initiated modern scientific research to understand the health benefits of Wonderful variety pomegranates. To date, we have provided over $34M in research support to top scientists, including a Nobel Laureate, at leading universities around the world.

Horny is just so lean.

Breaking News, Hamilton/Landis have indicated that they provided Horner with PEDs...also discussed using testosterone.

Oh wait, just a bunch of dopers/liars with psychological issues making up crap to sell books...

Disregard...false report...move on...nothing to see here.

Shut up! Landis and Hamilton both speak excellent english and are good nice guys I dont believe that they would dope. Their words have just been taken out of contect by some french jornalists who are content on destroying the American domination of cycling.

I still believe!

This is just disgusting

According to the VeloNews web report on the Mt. Baldy stage of the ToC, Horner and Leipheimer (both riding for Radio Shack) crossed the finish line 1-2 after riding away from the top climbers in the field. "Some three and a half hours later, at an elevation of 6,444 feet, Leipheimer was just as relaxed and barely out of breath after winning the stage after he and Horner held their hands aloft in victory."

This is just stupid.

How can you ride away from the best climbers on a long hors categorie climb and then cross the finish line "barely out of breath"?

EPO or blood bags.

Horner and Leipheimer are disgusting dopers. They learned too well from Lance. It's also disgusting that the UCI forbade the from USADA conducting any doping test at the ToC.

Something's got to change. I hope Horner and Leipheimer are implicated in either the upcoming 60 Minutes report, the GJ investigation or both. They sicken me.
