Certainly. But he's making the statement now, not at a future date. He's saying he's an atheist, but in the right circumstances, he'd "hedge his bets". So, by acknowledging the hedge, he's labeled himself a conditional atheist. Which isn't an atheist.
Which effectively means that he's not sure about the existence of God, the definition of agnosticism, which Hume attributes to to the limited knowledge of humans. I have no clue whether God exists or not, but I'm absolutely positive that I don't have sufficient knowledge or information to say for certain.
oh for god sake.. im an atheist (
1.the doctrine or belief that there is no God.
2.disbelief in the existence of a supreme being or beings.) and actually yes you can be an atheist and change your beliefs at a later date (for instance if someone provides evidence.. currently i dont beleive in ghosts, i am a ghost atheist, however, if someone shows me a ghost then i may well change my opinion), and i cant bloody spell... i was making a point that all of us have the potential to be hypocrites, i despite a life of atheism may on my death bed decide to pray just in case, i dont believe in god, but when it comes to it, is it worth the risk.. who knows.. im not dead yet, ask me again when im on my death bed..
i was just using it as an example to make a ruddy point about the LAF.. im not agnostic.. i do not believe in god, there are no dinosaurs in the bible, for crying out loud..
and yes, i cant spell at the moment, i use a spell-checker about 40 times in each post, but i could not find hypocrisy or whatever the hell it is in my spell-checker..
good god.. did you swallow a
pedantic pill for breakfast or summat.. ?
fricking jesus!
