trust me, im an atheist, and opposed to religion in all forms..

i was confessing to having the potential to be a hippocrite.. ;)

If you're an atheist, you wouldn't be saying a prayer. Atheism is the absence of belief. So, to whom exactly would you pray if you're sure gods don't exist? And if you're not sure, you're an agnostic, not an atheist.

On the subject of cancer and the comeback, I'm reminded of this quote:

"I'm doing this for my kids," he (Armstrong) told biographer John Wilcockson, explaining his comeback. "I don't want them growing up and reading all these things about me and doping."

Hey, I admire a man who is willing to cover all the bases. Why take a chance, right?:D

I can see his point. As his kids rarely see him they will have to get to know him through internet message boards.

The comeback only insured that the topic will come up more.....but the number of stories talking about his habit of dating young girls who look like grandma has been reduced.

I agree but the main reason I differ with Lance is:

He banged Kristian,Sheryl Crow, Ashley Olsen,L.Lohan.

Not only can Lance whip my bootie on any mountain but he is also a player.

Lance you are my hero.

Kristian?

Emma. I'm going to go out on a limb and say (from a reading of "From Lance to Landis") that is doubtful. She did say that she respected his single-minded focus on winning quite a lot, but she also felt some of his methods were unethical.

If one goes by the Chinese held philosophy of Yin and Yang, true there's a duality of nature in any given individual. But if said individual makes a million dollar career built up on a lot of lies and continues to propel that myth around, you can't expect people to remain quiet about it and I take it I'm just an ocean in the drop of the people who don't believe in lies and corruption. Lance made his first big impact on the sport in 1999 when he won the Tour de France. A few years later, six of his samples turn up positive for synthetic drugs. He lies about it and continues to do so. (In his latest effort at soundbiting in the media, he calls the doctors who question his blood values as "poor students" who somehow edged out and passed medical school.)

Couldn't have said it better myself.

Im an atheist, but like all good non believers when my time comes, i will have a quick pray just to be on the safe side..

im sure there's a lot of people who whilst they may mock it now, if they where unfortunate enough to be hit by cancer would take every ounce of help the LAF offered them..

in desperate times we all become hypocrites

but like i say, this has nothing to do with cycling, or doping come to that.. sounds to me more like beehive was getting his **** whupped on facebook and came here for a bit of moral and emotional support

That's exactly what I thought when I read the post. Dim, you seem a little fiesty today.

(Sorry reading these backwards so my sequence is off.)

blimey.. i am sure, i dont believe in god, (i think jesus existed but life of brian is very close to the truth), and i think all religion sucks, my point was, regardless of what we all beleive, when the crunch comes, either we face death, or we get cancer etc, then our beliefs can suddenly change..
so i, as an atheist, when faced with death might hedge my bets and pray just in case (hence hipocracy), just as someone who may think lance and all that surrounds him is evil, when faced with cancer, may be happy to take all the help that the LAF is willing to offer.. (more hipocracy) but none of us truly know until we are in the situation.

i shouldnt have to explain this, it really ISNT that complicated..

abusing (or at least misusing) substances with unknown health risks solely for the purpose of winning a bike race?

What substances would those be? Just curious since you talk like you have direct access to Lance's medicine cabinet.

And what school did you get your PhD at?

You wouldn't have to explain yourself if you actually knew the difference between an atheist and an agnostic. If you're considering hedging your bets, you're not an atheist, chief.

By the way, not to be spelling police or anything, but it's "hipocrisy" not "hipocracy". Of course, I shouldn't have to point that out. :)

One could be an atheist at the moment and change to an agnostic or believer at a later date. I think the definition of their beliefs would be at the moment, not some possible future belief.

Certainly. But he's making the statement now, not at a future date. He's saying he's an atheist, but in the right circumstances, he'd "hedge his bets". So, by acknowledging the hedge, he's labeled himself a conditional atheist. Which isn't an atheist.

Which effectively means that he's not sure about the existence of God, the definition of agnosticism, which Hume attributes to to the limited knowledge of humans. I have no clue whether God exists or not, but I'm absolutely positive that I don't have sufficient knowledge or information to say for certain.

oh for god sake.. im an atheist (1.the doctrine or belief that there is no God.
2.disbelief in the existence of a supreme being or beings.
) and actually yes you can be an atheist and change your beliefs at a later date (for instance if someone provides evidence.. currently i dont beleive in ghosts, i am a ghost atheist, however, if someone shows me a ghost then i may well change my opinion), and i cant bloody spell... i was making a point that all of us have the potential to be hypocrites, i despite a life of atheism may on my death bed decide to pray just in case, i dont believe in god, but when it comes to it, is it worth the risk.. who knows.. im not dead yet, ask me again when im on my death bed..

i was just using it as an example to make a ruddy point about the LAF.. im not agnostic.. i do not believe in god, there are no dinosaurs in the bible, for crying out loud..

and yes, i cant spell at the moment, i use a spell-checker about 40 times in each post, but i could not find hypocrisy or whatever the hell it is in my spell-checker..

good god.. did you swallow a pedantic pill for breakfast or summat.. ?

fricking jesus!

I've been without personal internet for a week or so due to moving into a new house, and what a wonderful thread to read on my return. We have:

1) Assclown of the year candidate cozy beehive with his panties in a wad due to.......what? I have reread his original post twice and don't get it. CB should change his name to cozy padded room.

CB - if there are other facebook posts you claim that prove your point about this Damian guy, then post them. Don't whine we don't know the full story then slither back off into your corner of the internet. You appear to be a pathetic whiny little person with your post. Thanks. BTW, facebook sux.

2) RR claiming he knows Emma O'Reilly's sexual habits. It is always amazing to me how we just "know" things, like how we know certain cyclists don't dope. The cynics here tend to take such absolute proclamations from other posters a little less than serious. BTW, the only pic I have seen of her is on the side of the road holding a mussette bag, and she appears to be pretty hot. Does anybody have any other pictures? Nudity a plus. Thanks.

3) Dimspace defending his belief of non-belief.

It's 6 in the morning here. Time for a beer after this thread.

Once they install internets in Lance's ***, you can toss his salad and post at the same time.
