Just read some news in local media, about a young football player, one sided contract termination, two years back, going from Olimpija to Köln. Köln ignored all demands. FIFA backed Olimpija and both Köln and football player were fined and FIFA awarded 50k compensation to Olimpija. Olimpija wanted more and the case went to CAS. It looks like CAS sided with Olimpija. Compensation did stay the same but Köln is now facing a temporary ban for new registrations of players and likely the footballer will be suspended for a couple of month too. So this is how football is currently doing it. Lets see on how cycling does it.

The totally independent, non-biased & fair Dutch journalist Thijs Zonnerveld coming in hard with the pro-Visma spin. Shocking.

In any case it's good that this is over (& I suspect all 3 parties wanted it sorted ASAP so not to pollute the new season). Bora can take the fight to Visma on the road, as it should be.

Probably depends on how serious their case was. Their lawyers probably made an estimated guess on what the odds were for success. It’ll be somewhere between 100K-1M

No. It doesn't look like it came down to lawyers, or better agents. As lawyers would get involved latter. So all in all it didn't come down to the people that made this mess.

"Today is a day of mixed feelings. I was surprised to be approached on short notice with the desire to reach an agreement," Denk said. "But it's well known that I'm open to talks and that I won't stand in the way of a transfer if the conditions are right and if it's done according to the rules. That was the case three weeks ago, and it was the same today.

"I am pleased that the dust has finally settled and that the case is now closed. The agreement shows that it's never too late for a reasonable, personal discussion. I would like this case to remain an isolated incident for the entire cycling family: Let's respect contracts and rules, let's be fair with each other."

Denk clarified that Uijtdebroeks did not accuse his now-former teammates of bullying.

"Above all, I stand behind my team. When false accusations are made against our riders, a line is crossed. To be clear: these accusations did not come from Cian. They were never voiced to us by Cian as a reason to change teams," Denk said.

It came down to real people, like Denk, and i assume Cian, discussion, respect, agreement and a hand shake. That is what solved this mess.

They definitely first let the lawyers check how their case was. Which is why they dropped it. You don't just wait 2 weeks, without letting lawyers check this, 3 weeks before the start of the season...

Nah. Considering how detailed the whole procedure was, legally, those people, initiating it, they had not much to do with reaching the agreement. On top of that in now turned out Cian never accused Bora of bullying. So the assholes that did that. Somebody has pull a plug on them (i am not talking about the journalist).

Weird take. In my opinion Bora found out it would take too much time and money to fight this in court. No one would benefit from that. So they asked for less money than 1M, but more than 100K. This whole "we talked it out like adults" is going to be bs.
