I'm gonna say De Gendt FTW. He seemed to find tremendous form towards the end of the tour. Looking at the results of stage 19 and 20 you would have thought he'd been on the podium of the whole thing.

Is picking Gilbert for these types of races like picking Cavendish for sprints?

Unless otherwise specified, Gilbert's the pick for everyone!

Gilbert won a crit showing he is in good form and recovered from the TDF and has emerged with good legs. However if he wins he shall take on Cadel in UCI points and that might stop BMC contract negotiations.

You do know those crits the podium is predetermined don't you? You don't actually need form. Most are hungover from the previous night.

I have to ask do you just make stuff up?

post tour crits - the winner has been decided before they start, ie Cadel will win and he is not a Crit rider.

BMC will not care if Gilbert wins the UCI point Comp, I really don´t think Cadel cares either.

I never did get the point of crits though, so might as well ask now. Why are they predetermined? Why are they even ridden in that case.

What is the point?

Interesting about the crits being rigged but it seems that they are feel-good races to showcase the heroes for those who weren't able to see the Tour and such...?

Kinda funny, but still action and would be good to see your fave riders up close.

Anyway, the start list is really amazing for SS. I would pick PGil...
or if he's tired which it sounds like he is not, maybe Lulu will repeat?? :)

Sanchez was in Roeselare today where he won and in Aalst yesterday(where I saw him). He was also on a show called Villa Vantilt today together with Philippe Gilbert and Thor Hushovd(in Roeselare). Such a nice guy Samuel is :) He was feeling a bit awkward at the show though, but I guess that's just how he is. And his language skills really suck :p

Tomorrow Sanchez will be in Vienna, but Phil and Thor will go to Norway.

Crits are pretty cool to go to. You get to see your favorite cyclists in their Tour jerseys and lot's of beer.

A.Schleck will DNF somewhere in the 2nd half, complaining about sore back or something similar.

GvA will see the backs of the 10-15 contenders that simply climbs better, disappear up the 1st cat.

so... no.
Meh I'm no genius when it comes to predictions anyhow, as my performance in the Prediction Game will confirm.

Sanchez was talking about how he felt special of being part of a Basque team even though he's an Asturian. He started racing when he was 18 years old and was in to moto riding first(and that's where he learned how to descend), but then he started cycling and after 3 years became pro with Euskaltel. He has 2 kids, the youngest is 3 years old and the oldest is 10 years old. He also said he's good friends with Alonso. And apparently yesterday was his first time he did a race in Flanders. The interviewer was also joking with him about how he stole the polkadot jersey from Jelle :p

Phil was talking about skipping the Vuelta because he wants to win the UCI World Tour and he can earn more points racing in one day races than he can in the Vuelta. And how he accomplished his goals of the Tour in 4 hours  And he has not yet decided if he'll do the Tour next year or not.

Thor talked about praying to the virgin Maria when he won in Lourdes. Also talked about the tragedy that happened in Norway. And that he and Phil will go to Norway together for another crit where Cancellara will also take part in. And Phil couldn't even say the name of the race correctly, so Thor had to help him lol.

And they were all wearing their cycling outfit of course: Phil in the Belgian jersey, Samu in his Polkadots and Thor in his rainbow jersey.

The Belgians have in one move become my favourite faction on this forum. Dutch what? When have they ever done anything like this for us. Belgium rocks.

Thanks a lot for the write up pisti. Appreciate it. And for mentioning the interview in the first place that led to the write up and to the video link. Many thanks to BS for the link.

A shame Phil speaks in that language, but some day ill know what he said.

Ps did anyone hear something about Voeckler and the Badger going on Frances biggest talkshow. Anyone saw it?
