The Vuelta a Colombia, one of Latin America’s strongest events, will also miss out on the international calendar after failing to meet UCI team invitation standards.
Colombian website nuestrociclismo.com quoted national federation manager Ruben Dario Galeano as saying, “We are unable to meet the standard enacted in recent years indicating that foreign teams must have five guests with all payments
“The race last year invited eight teams in Europe and America, but in the end they decided not to come to Colombia, stating that they were not interested to come around (an event) as hard as ours.”

Vuelta a Colombia is back on the calendar for 2012, but only ten days long. This UCI leveling down bs again...
Escarabajo said:Beginning of the year. It won't have the best names on it, but enough riders would be interested just to be ready for the Classics. Colombia and Venezuela have some good races at the beginning of the year. We don't have the seasonal weather problems.
Even La Vuelta a Colombia could be moved. It would probably has to be shortened to 10 days maybe. I hate to see it shortened, but if it becomes more popular then be it.

Thanks. There was a lenghty article about him in El Tiempo a while back, so that's why I asked.Ryo Hazuki said:he was on verge of getting contract with phonak until they had landis get caught or before I don't remember too well. he was a big talent yes, rode with saunier duval u23 but returned to colombia after being phonak stagiare and never left colombia again. rode on antioquia team but had serious injury I think almost 2 years ago and has returned this year and so far done really well. he is more of an itt guy though
