I got this screencap from last Giro. Anyone know if there is a decent image of this?

And now that I'm hogging the entire thread...

Some classic American photos:

Bob Cook, about to crack Jock Boyer up Mt. Evans in 1979:

And that's John Howard behind and between them. I recognize his legs.

Wim Van Est

In 1951 Wim Van Est became the first Dutchman to wear the yellow jersey in the Tour de France. Van Est was a good rouleur, but had little experience over the high mountains. On his first day in yellow, Van Est was descending the Col d'Aubisque when his front tyre blew, sending him plummeting into a 60 metre ravine. Somehow, he escaped any serious injuries, but was understandably distraught:

Seeing him sitting at the bottom of the ravine in his yellow jersey, one of his teammates described him as a "buttercup in the grass".

In order to get Van Est back on to the road, the team mechanics and support staff made a rope out of tubular tyres and hauled him back up:

Rein Taaramäe cracks on the Alto de Xorret del Cati during stage 9 of last year's Vuelta.

One of THE craftiest little coups in cycling history. At Pra Loup in 1975 Thenevet attacks Merckx around the far side of a melting tar patch on the hunch that Merckx will not risk riding through it to take his wheel. He's right, and the rest is history!

(Of course, Merckx had blown anyway -- but so much depends on that little moment when you shake the guy from your rear wheel.)
