That was "that" Giro where Pantani ended up ejected for high HcT and the Mapei team boasted they were "the only team in the race with normal blood values". "If my riders' HcT stayed the same after the second week like all the other teams here I'd fire them on the spot" said their DS. And it was clear they were clean.....it was a squad of superstars and they did exactly NOTHING AT ALL during that Giro, and not for lack of trying
I don't think Pantani he led the protest at the 98 Tour, though.
