There's a big difference between how the Clinic posters see themselves and how the rest of cycling sees them.

The regulars here see themselves as doing valuable work and forming opinion within cycling.

Elsewhere, they are see as obsessive cranks and this place is know as the Asylum.

Self awareness has never been a strong point of this forum.

Thanks Mambo for stepping up and talking for "the rest of cycling"

Everyone else was able to discuss their own reasons for posting here - which begs the question, if you & your buddies think this place is an asylum, why do you post here so often?

The point you have missed of course is The Clinic is not one view, if it was threads would not go to 2nd pages as everyone would be in agreement.
Nor has it to do with post-count or even cycling experience.

Okay, so I got curious. Never been reading the clinic this much as I have lately for obvious reasons and I have until recently just ignored it basically. What I found odd was the number of users I've never seen before. If you take some out, check their lists of post some users have actually never posted in the general cycling forum. What.. What I don't get is.. why..? What's the point discussing doped riders/speculations if you don't give a crap about the actual sport?

Hi Clinic Reader!

My name is Juicy. I have been racing bicycles for many years. I only care about the drug-related parts of cycling. And my wins. Everything else bores me. As such, I only post here in the clinic.

I am guilty of this.
I used to care for professional cycling, as a fan. A level I couldn't really compete at, or so I thought. I won my races clean, and lost clean when taking on pro's. Sometimes I even won of lesser pro's, in significant (at least to me) races.
I hae gotten interested in information that is truthful. Doping is anti-truth, it's anti-sport. It gets good sportive people to become evil cheaters. It's fascinating. And it needs to be exposed, and stopped as much as possible. Doping needs awareness. We provide it at no cost.

Okay, so ...

At one time there was no clinic, so doping and pro cycling talk were intermixed. This was unpleasant for a few more sensitive individuals, and it did make it difficult (sometimes impossible) to stay on track. Race conversations would turn into doping ones, etc. So the clinic was formed to allow both worlds.

I post in both. I like the clinic for several reasons, the main one being that a very significant issue can be discussed openly. It can also be highly humerous.

I would not say that folks who only post in the clinic do not care about the sport. It is just the clinic is where they want to talk. There are some very interesting personal stories and angles from folks who have seen doping up close and personal.
