Well for what its worth in answer to the original post I just bit the bullet, or wallet and bought a 2014 CLX 3 from Cycle Surgery, because I have always hankered after a Colnago. I know its not a C40, 59, 60 or whatever and the wheels are as heavy as a very bloody heavy thing (being changed to some DCR hand built wheels, just waiting for them to arrive) but it is quite simply brilliant and I am 55 next week. It's adding to the stable:Boardman and Specialized, and I can see myself adding to my weekly mileage just because it is so enjoyable to ride.

That's really great news to read but having started this thread I think its about time to own up about what has happened since. I am glad I started it as there have been some great contributions and photographs but sadly I am no nearer to getting the Colnago I still desire.
Having posted the thread I then set about getting the money together and I actually got £600 together. So all was going well, that is until I saw a Orbea Oinx for sale at that price. And with Summer fastly approaching I decided to buy it.
Ok its no Colnago but I must say that its proving to be a great bike because its comfortable and quite responsive but of cause its no Colnago.
Looks like the motorbike may have to be sold at some time in the future to finance buying one.
Sorry everyone.
