i am very happy that frank osorio is in the team:he is 1988, but he is improving very fast in the last 2 years. imho he is a rough diamond and if he will be cut in the right way probably we will see an atypical colombian ( he is 188 cm)doing really great things in europe
he is superstrong

cote' grimpeur, i hope that nairo quintana will be confirmed and i am very unhappy that freddy montana is out of the team.he really deserves the chance to be in a better team than boyaca.

the cutting edge for coldeportes will be get invitations in races like dauphinee' , that suit very well the colombians attitude , and to get funding in the right time from colombian governement.
colombia es pasion failed because saldarriaga was not able to confirm the invitation to dauphinee' , which was very likely to happen and to the vuelta, which was very difficult to happen.
the other reason was the lack of funding and the lack of experience on the european scene.
the presence of claudio corti is a better guaranty in terms of experience and organisation,. the support of president santos (which is supposed to be backing strongly coldeportes which has 28 million euros for supporting the colombian sport development)is even more important.

let's hope cafe the colombia times are back: that will be really good for cycling

I know Colombian cycling, and the team does not have the support of the President of Colombia, this is a Political Project of Jario, after he lost his bid to the congress and was appointed to Coldeportes.. He is re building his political career..

By far the guy with the best potential is Nairo Quintana.. He does TT better than the others and climb as the best.. Henao wil surely win stages sooner than later, but is not a GC threat due to his weakness on TT..

there are two factors here-and none of them have to do with Fabio's Skill's-as follows:

1-) What good is for a talented rider like Fabio to lead a team that won't be invited to WT races? I guess to beg & wait for a Wild card spot or worse-to only go to the US races?
2-) What is the truthful commitment of Coldeportes to this enterprise in years to come? we-Colombians-thought that Colombia es Pasion team was called upon to succeed in getting Pro Tour license in a near future-since it's support comes from government & private backing -and yet-there is not such certainty to happen-so what is it that Coldeportes-a very shady sporting institution has to offer at this point that others haven't already had?

Efer07.. You seem to know lot about Coldeportes..changes direction every 2 4 years, directors do politics (like Everth did) and the program dies.. He literally killed Colombia es Pasion-- didn't honor his financial committment this year, promised US$750 and paid only US$100 just to weaken the team. What's going to happen a year or so from now before congress elections?? Not only this, but on the darker side.. terrible names officially on the team ( Buenahora just one example) but un officially.. even worse.. Beltran!! I feel they will destroy soon all that was attained by Colombia es Pasion, that was going in the right direction with minimal budgets, and exectued with surplus every single year!!

Ryo... Hope you were right.. you don't know colombian politics, specially guys like Clopatofsky!.. Wait and see!.. They did offered support to the new u23 Colombia es Pasion team, and the management rejected it!, they rather went by themselfs than risk their names with Coldeportes!!

duarte is a true talent but has complete different qualities than gilbert.
the real problem with duart is his mind attitude to train hard. when he is well prepared he could be a real factor both in hilly classics and in mountain stages.
in gc in grand tours we still do not know , but he has qualities and if he is able to recover he will do very well.
about hilly classics you have to consider that he is not too bad in sprinting even if he lost to basso (!!!!!) in gp lugano.
then , i do not know what he could do in a colombian team in a hilly one day race, because colombians are not used to this kind of racing.
uran was good at LBL and in other hard one day races, but he was racing for sky...

anyway , as betancourt proved in giro dell' emilia and in lombardia, the best colombians can do well in these races.
betancourt is just 22 and next year if he will train and prepare properly he will show great things.
remember that duarte is , at this moment, more experienced and probably stronger than betancourt..

PROFF... Duarte is by far the most phisically talented rider in Colombia, only if he had better mind he could do much, much better.. With his attitude is almost impossible to keep him focused for the whole season, and he gives up very easy.. with a minor crisis he gives up huge amount of time. I see much more potential in the other young riders.. Uran, Henao, Quintana.. and Chavez in the near future..

It hasn't been made entirely clear why funding was withdrawn from CEP and Coldeportes was set up, rather than simply building on the work CEP have been doing for 4-5 years. That said, it seems Coldeportes has the full support of the current Colombian government, so they should be safe until 2014.

So do I, but the "lady" behing the whole project "Diana" is a good friend of him. Not only that, but Beltran has worked many years for UNE, and worked for Duarte some years ago.. Unfortunately, Coldeportes has not taken a clear stand against doping, and the situation in Colombia is by far well behind that in Europe. Also the presence of Buenahora (several positives during his career) does leave room for many doubts... In fact, there were rumors Corti had hired his son, who was involved in an ongoing doping investigation in Italy, but there were inmediate reactions from the press (El Tiempo - Tweets) and he had to refrain from hiring his son. But again, let's hope they do play a fair game!!!

that had nothing to do with it. cep management are bunch of stubbonrs that didn't want help anymore from coldeportes when they said they didn't want them to be leading the pct team because they clearly are inadequate and miss the neccesary network that someone like corti has to ride the big races. now the cep team continues with 472 as sponsor and will do coupe de paix and have a horrible team next year

not true at all obviously coldeportes have taken a clear stance against doping by firing edwin parra and even guys suspected like marco corti aren't allowed in the team and also there has never been any prove or dr beltran being involved in anything doping related

I can't believe this still gets some attention when all it was was badmouthing by formed xacobeo doctor bastidas who was fired and replaced by beltran and it turned out to be nothing but unsubstantiated lies from bastidas

That looks like a good programme - hopefully Duarte can go one better at GP Lugano.

PS: I think you're being a little too defensive about the good Dr Beltran, but let's leave it.
