i think mauricio ardila will be with coldeportes continental, racing only in south america and colombia, under the guidance of buenahora
he said he does not want to come back in europe this year.
he is experienced, that is true, but for sure declining under an athletical standpoint.

i stilll hope alex ardila cano will go to coldeportes pro conti. he had a very average season, but in the past he showed good skills in climbing and he proved to be able to work for duarte ( if i correctly remember they made a thrilling combined attack in the queen stage at vuelta asturias a couple years ago, finishing 1-2..)
he is still young , and years ago he looked better than infantino..maybe he can peak again and give a key turn to his career...

And now that I have it in my mind, can someone explain to me why there seems to be such a close relationship between Italy and Colombia cycling wise?

corti is son of claudio and trainingpartner and friend of duarte. alvaro is his younger brother so these are all political signings :) I suppose

italian riders I think were one of the first to go race in colombia like coppi and also italy is the most traditional cycling country in the world and a latin country so is only normal for such countrys to have that. is same with argentina and italy in cycling and spain. same in football too

Durate aside, which riders do you have high hopes for and who will go from relative unknown to top riders?

I want to see Coldportes Vs Androni in the Giro. It would make up for no Contador ( even though the GC duel will probably be more exciting next year than this years' fight for 2nd )

I'm sure we'll get treated to some great attacks from these riders next season.

suarez and duarte will bring in results a lot I think. chalapud has done wlel this year in europe and he is fast and explosive so could have better results now and some are guys that could do well in one day races as carlos quintero. some are huge prospects that could go either way especially frank osorio he has incredible potentiel and did an amazing vuelta colombias last year at age 22 and his first one and imagine the guy is 188 and 80 kg and he can climb very welll.... in europe could become a potential monster because in colombia he's not a real climber but more rouleur itt in europe means he will be excellent climber. same with suarez who in colombia is good climber but not exceptional will do very well in europe because he is so allround

then there is atapuma as pure clumber and still so young can show a lot and also chavez, winner of avenir despite he is 20.

With Rujano, I see Androni being more dominant.

for sure. androni is wya better but could be battle between rujano and duarte. they are almost samelevel in climbing but duarte is more unregular. in vuelta colombia 2009 in first mountainstage he gave a show unbelievable but for duarte will be a year to show he can be consistant in a gt because best result in vuelta colombia ever was 15th... although in 2009 he was screwed when all teams started pacing when he had a flat tire in yellow jersey and he had to retire a few days later

yes we all remember that stage when that little devil dog almost made him crash at the finish line.isn't he the tallest colombian ever to ride in europe? :p

soler is taller.

is funny story though osorio rode on a bike way too small for many years until last year when gw contracted him. since then made incredible progress. I read intevriew with himn where he was grateful to his parents who worked veyr hard for him to be able to race and now that he is a pro his family is so happy.

if osorio loses some weight he can become a better botero- great rouleur, great climber , an indurain like rider.
if atapuma learns to stand the speed of the peloton in the european races without destroying himself he can really be outstanding in climbing.

i trust claudio corti 's experience . they all have to run in a more tactical way to really be a factor in european races. even duarte, that is the one with the best skills also from a tactical standpoint, has a lot to learn: do you remember him attacking always too early and too stronglly in the basque country?

anf then if corti keeps them in europe training and racing, they all will do well. if he allows them back in colombia after the first successes, well, i do not know.
duarte last year started the season very well , because he was very motivated and well trained. then after the knee injury at the giro, where he was very strong,he went back to colombia and the vuelta was quite average ( with the exception of a good angliru stage) and also he did not shine in post vuelta races.
