they will have a good shot at riding the giro, since corti has great relation with rcs

suarez is very good yes. but he's not their best guy. the team will stay very strong. also because epm have like 26 riders right now and it's lead by raul mesa, the legend of colombia.

I think one GT is probably more realistic, would be a good thing anyway.

interview today with jairo clopatovsky he said a few names for the ct team of coldeportes that will run american circuit. biggest names: baez and montana, jaime castaneda, mauricio casas and javier gonzalez (cousin of chepe gonzalez)

surprising and disapointing these aren't going to ride in europe, but who knows. by looking at these names, both the teams are very serious and acquiring absolute top riders from all the top colombian teams. the budget will be over 5 million dollars which is unheard of for a colombian team but will also be pretty strong in europe and should be perfect to ride all the big races they can get in.

both ct and pct team are going to have 18 riders. the pct team will be directed by claudio corti and oliverio rincon and ct team by hernan buenahora and oliverio cardenas. the pct team in europe will be based from brescia in italy and coldeportes have already oppened up office there and started the paper work with uci for assigning the teams

clopatovsky specifically said this is not some one year stunt, but a long term thing, which is a matter of state, involving the president of colombia and a joint venture of many big company's. the team's basic is thus comparable with how astana and katysha are done.

it can't get any more exciting in my book _O_

Interesting news.
I'll ask my friends in the area to keep eyes open this coming winter (when they'll start with first team meetings).

that's what he said, riding a gt in 2 years
If they get everything up and running for next season, hopefully there will be a few invites to the week long Spanish stage races like Catalunya and Pais Vasco.

With this roster I can see them making an impression. If so would a Vuelta invite be unrealistic?

This is nice news. Was a bit let down that we didn't see much of the Colombians in Europe this year.

Also looks like I was a year early picking a load of Colombians for my CQ team :p

So did I. I have Suarez on my team :D

So will this be happening for 2012? Or is it in the works for next couple of years?

I think they go for Rubiano. He knows racing in Italy and can bring early successes to the team. Thats what I would do. ;)

quintana at movistar, uran and henao at sky, duarte at geox, betancur at a&s, sarmiento at liquigas, plus infantino and beltran staying at epm...
the coldeportes operation is having difficulties. no big columbians name signed yet
i think it will be difficult for them to have invitation at a GT's early.
it appears unlikely they will a great impact without quintana and beltran

if they are in the long run, ok, but they need to wait for people like jaramillo, k,rios b. ramirez and other young talented rider that are from 91 or younger and still developping.

pantano, still developing, osorio and suarez ( atypical colombians, no pure grimpeur ) seems the best chance they have to me, even if osorio is still a bet...
esteban chaves is very young and i have been surprised by his victory ar tour de l' avenir: i believe he still needs time (amybe two years) to became a factor in europe.

i hope that they will bring freddy montana and baes in the european team and try to sign atapuma, vey good in climbing if he learns to stand the european tempo approaching the climbs and ardila cano the young who can climb very well.

my dream is they will be able to bring back to colombia some of the big names in europe: duarte will be the best pick, because he risk to be sacrificed at the likes of menchow and cobo at geox

13 riders confirmed so far. strangely enough infantino and beltran, of whom I;m sure won't join.

Por ahora, han confirmado 13 nombres: Juan Pablo Suárez, Rafael Infantino, y Edward Beltrán, del EPM-UNE, Robinson Chalapud, Dalivier Ospina, Juan Pablo Forero, Jarlinson Pantano, Felipe Laverde y Víctor Hugo Peña, del Colombia es Pasión, más Carlos Julio Quintero, Wilson Marentes, Edwin Parra y Frank Osorio. Quedan cinco nombres por definir.

I think Chaves is too young and inexperienced to make a big move yet. Cano has had a desperately disappointing season.

i've also read that the clasico winner infantino has signed.
now i'm wondering if corti can do something about a grand tour invitation next year.

Only 1 new team next year can aim at riding Grand Tours and I dont think its this one. :p

On a serious note, next year probably it would be too early; Id already be glad to see them with a pretty decent calendar.

they need a gt though. that's where they will get results most likely. not smaller stageraces with ****ty courses like this year

i hope they can get rafael infantino.
he has completed his maturation and in utah and rcn he has accomplished the consistency he always lacked.
more than that, he has already lived in italy in his under season and he already had a pro season in europe ( mainly in italy) with amica chips , a weak and badly organized team.
so his adjustement to european racing and living can be easy.
duarte for instance , this year did well, but first time he came to italy, two years ago with savio, completely failed because was not to able to cope with the situation.

If they do get a GT invitation, they'd probably end up in the Vuelta. Although, I would like to see them ride the Giro.

They couldn't do any worse than Andalucía-Caja Granada IMO.
