Duarte claimed to be in good form as well... what a disaster. Chaves is still injured, it just remains to be seen if Atapuma has managed to get in shape. Otherwise the Giro could be embarassing.

chaves won't make the giro. he hasn't returned to europe yet. duarte we have to give some time. he just returned 2 days ago from colombia, but it isn;'t looking good.

Yeah, Duarte is capable of finding form quite quickly, but he has been so bad so far this season I've almost given up on him. I don't remember him being this anonymous since that half-season he spent with Savio in 2007.

he never rode a race with savio in 2007. so yeah obviously he was anonymous, literally in a hotelroom somewhere in italy doing no races. he hates savio to this day.

however they are so undertrained, their base is horrible. however look how strong chalapud has become all of a sudden with just 2 weeks going back to colombia in march, pantano, duarte and atapuma went 3 weeks and duarte has the most talent. I've been told by various sources that duarte had a great winter until he went to europe. so let;'s hope. it's do or die for him this year in europe. he has more talent than henao, betancurt, chaves, uran. he has incredible potential.

still it was painful beyond anything to see 4-72 colombian team outperform coldeportes with a team filled with maybe 10% of the talent coldeportes has, all because saldarriaga is a great trainer and corti is disastrous, he understands nothing of colombian riders as is shown now

Agree with your second two paragraphs; however, he did ride some races in 2007, I remember searching through results to find him in 60th-70th position.

maybe duarte is soft pedaling, saving his form for the giro
let 's wait what he will do in sega di ala.
he was supposed to train well in colombia and last year he hit form in california i.e. the same time period of the giro.
i still hope but the season up to now is even worst than last year.

he rode in sotuh america I remember and quite well, he rode in chile. he left androni within 4 months btw to return to colombia. I looked up and ye she seemed to have done a few races in europe too. 30th settimana lombarda I saw. stil it was a horrifying experience for him at age 20

that's nothing like him though. he seems obsessed with the giro this year that is true. but usually his normal base level is very high, see geox for example and whenever he feels well he attacks and always sits in front. there's a reason he was send back to colombia with pantano and atapuma. corti for sure is in full panick mode realizing he's heading for disaster and he'll get fired for sure.

last year he wasn't in form in california either. just the compeition was very bad. duarte even in horrible shape has tremendous days, see brabantse pijl last year.

he is of higher level then those, he always had more talent, one look at his style also says more than enough. never seen a rider with a more fluid beauitful style in everything he does.

Would he consider changing teams by the end of the year perhaps? To a more professional (?) structure?

Seriously hope they animate the Giro im not expecting much though, they have disappointed big time imo. They suppose to come to play in the mountains but I cant see them even hanging on when teams like Sky and Astana start to drill it.

what big team would want him after this? when he left geox he had many wt offers but he choose coldeportes because they were colombian. despite half the forum here thinking colombian riders all choose for the money

same with chaves btw after last year.

if he fails this year I think he goes back to colombia for good, to ride there.

problem is, what riders does corti buy? duque, quintero, arango, avila all track riders and valencia, duber quintero, 2 riders so bad they left colombia to try their luck as italian amateurs and on top of that his pathetic son marco who is worse than anything. he lost 3 minutes alone in the tt yesterday to his teammates. wtf does a colombian team need with them in europe? he should've gotten climbers. that is where colombia beats europe with. remmber how well suarez rode with epm in spain and usa 2 years ago? now he's not even 10% of that.

still all of this wouldn't matter if he actually got them in great shape, which means don;t go to f'n north italy in january in the snow. where do quintana, uran, henao etc all live? exaclty, in spain. and they don't go there until at least february.

i thought juan pablo suarez would have come back this year to a decent level.
unfortunately that did not happen.
imho, he is the clear example of coldeportes deceiving attitude.

anyway last year first sign of life of the team was atapuma in trentino.
inope this year is not worst.

That sucks, I hope someone picks him up. He has a rare class on the bike, very enjoyable to see.

I doubt that he would not be snapped up- he is still young and rode well in 2011 in U23 and in 2012 pro ranks.

They should've invited Europcar instead it seems.
Let's wait. besides you don't know if Europcar would send their A-Team anyway.

As for Duarte is concerned. I think he would get another chance with a protour team. he has enough potential to attract other teams.

Chaves should have no problem either because he is very young. besides Henao, Quintana, Betancur are doing a great deal of marketing of the Colombian young talent anyway. There would be several teams trying to replicate their results with other Colombiam youngsters. IMHO.

Today was the first time of the year I noticed a Colombia rider. That was when Duarte for some reason attacked on the flat/downhill in Trentino.

corti said duarte had been sick in colombia, bronchitis. however duarte said to revista mundo that his preparation so far went perfect(we will see) and also corti said that atapuma feels very strong going into turkey.

today duarte was in first group over the final climb, that at least is a lot better than losing 18 minutes yesterday.

And to be fair, we all know Corti is full of BS....

I sincerely hope for Colombia that they start to show some results. We all hope to see them light up the mountains with headless attacks, that's what we need!

Is it true they all live in the same house along with Betancur?
