So it seems Carlton's been replaced by Ned Boulting for the RCS races' English commentary. A Boulting/Lloyd partnership today going by the highlights on the main site.

Kirby/Stephens did the live that I saw. And very early in the show Kirby made some reference to something like "Ned's off the chair".

The Eurosport commentary pairs so far:

Cadel Evans Ocean Race: Liggett, Keenan & McEwan (international broadcast comms)
Dubai Tour: Hatch & Smith
Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana: Kirby & Stephens
Tour of Oman (nightly highlights): Hatch (solo)
Tour of Andalusia: Kirby & Stephen
Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne: Kirby & Smith
Le Samyn: Quigley & Smith
Strade Bianche: Hatch & Smith
Paris-Nice: Hatch & Kelly with Harris-Bass
Tirreno-Adriatico: Kirby & Stephens
Nokere Koerse: tbc
Handzame Classic: tbc
Milan-Sanremo: tbc
Tour of Catalunya: tbc

Thanks.

It's a shame that P-N isn't live anymore till Sunday. Can anyone remember if it was the same last year?

Similarly, don't recall watching Nokere Koerse or Handzame before. Are they new additions to the schedule?

Kirby and Lloyd used to do all the English commentary on location for all of RCS's races (Tirreno, MSR, Giro etc) for the foreign market - Eurosport excepted as they'd do their own commentary. So I guess it was for Australia, USA etc... Sky Sports showed some of this coverage a few years back. When David Harmon left Eurosport and Kirby replaced him, it meant there was a void for all the Italian races as CK continued to do this 6 week stint elsewhere.

Strade Bianche: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_mOKsIro2Q (Lloyd & Stephens)
Tirreno: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wZVRz4khohg (Boulting and Lloyd)

Anyway, Kirby it would seem has been signed up to work at Eurosport all season and that means 6 weeks less away from home I guess as most of their stuff (apart from P-N, P-R, Tour of Turkey and Tour de France) is done from an anonymous building near Heathrow.

It's a non-Eurosport point but it just means more Kirby on Eurosport because of this change.

Biggest problem with P-N on at same time. I could be imagining this, but I think Eurosport made some sort of claim that when they renewed their deal with RCS it would mean more live coverage of their races. Same agreement doesn't exist with ASO with Eurosport not even covering some of their events like Qatar. Almost every RCS race is carried live (Dubai, SB, T-A, MSR, Giro, M-T, Lombardia, Abu Dhabi though not Gran Piemonte last year) on ES though SB was only live on the ES Player this year.

Any idea where I can watch the previous versions of TdF in English?
I checked up Youtube but could only find French or Spanish. Thanks in advance.
The account which featured footage of TDF editions from the 80's & 90's got deleted.

Re-watched the Pantani stage wins there in 2014 & 2015!

Cyclingcols & Ciclismo de leyenda have some of the mountain stages. Funnycycling as well.

There still must be the highlight tape from the 94 Giro and the 99 Tour anywhere on YouTube. Although the versions I watched got deleted as well. But I'm pretty sure I saw that video about Lance's first victory short time ago.

Pantani's Giro must still be up as well.

Success, pal! :)

Thanks a hell lot mate. Cheers!

I get really nervous listening to Kirby. He is clueless more often than not. And when he's paired with Magnus it gets even worse. At least Stephens and Kelly are knowledgeable enough to correct him sometimes when he is wrong, but Backstedt always agrees with him. I think Kirby-Backstedt is the worst pair.

There is one thing I like of CK though and that's his excitement and enthusiasm in the finale of an interesting race. His commentary of Sagan's Worlds victory was epic.

I've always found MB a hard listen. He's just dull.

He's like an agreeable resource CK occasionally refers to. He doesn't have much personality on air, and even when talking about his own experiences (and he does have by far the most top-level experience of their regular pundits except for SK), his statements are bland and perfunctory.

He sparked into life today for about 10 seconds when Kirby tried to compare Weening's riding style to Contador while dropping Erviti. And by that I mean he disagreed!
