It had seemed that commentary is now always remote, whether from home or the Teddington studios (or a Paris studio, they suggested, during the TdF).

But Jez Cox giving the impression that he is on-site for the Deutschland Tour.
Thats because he is. or was. Of all the races to do live...

I don't want to get my hopes up too much but is the Vuelta Kirby-free this year?
At this point I'd take Kirby over listening to Hatch. Rob Hatch spent around 10k yesterday dwelling over that crash which in cycling term was pretty minor. He just doesn't seem to understand the concept that crashes are part of bike racing.

You know, when it says on the screen inside the final k that Visma is nine seconds down on UAE and all German commentators are certain that Ayuso will take over the lead, maybe they should realise something is very wrong with their first grade math skills or spotting a pattern inside the intermediate times skills

Hatch doing my head in, even my wifes giving off about the way he pronounces Gannnaaaa, mind that nothing new
Watched Hatchs podcast the other day for the first time , it was dreadful, that half an hour i,ll not get back
Where,s Carlton? I miss him big time
Nice wee surprise , not seeing Orla, should be a great weekend without her, still there will be more girls in green to cheer on this sunday in the rugby
Looks like Stephens been told to turn down the buffoonry a bit, he hasnt been too bad last few days

Well if you are a fan of the' girls in green' I'm surprised you have a downer on Orla, especially as she is also a very able and knowledgeable rugby presenter.

I've said before, Hatch was my favorite commontator, but in the last 5 years he's completely changed for the worse. The overexagerting, the over pronunciation to the point where you have no idea who or what he's talking about, getting upset whenever there's a crash, I could go on. It's ashame because I really liked him when he first started on Eurosport 10 years ago. He just tries to hard.
Regarding Orla, again when she first started on Eurosport she was very good, her dress was and is a bit dodgy. But again, in the last few years she and particularly Adam Blythe just got silly and annoying with their 'banter'. She is also very loud and tries to make herself the centre of attention.
At the moment Orla isn't presenting and it's way more watchable.

I think I heard his voice with little amplification right at the beginning of the broadcast, before they had sorted out the mikes, on one of the days. I also think I recall one of the co-commentators coming on air, saying he had just been talking with Carlton in the other studio. So I guess he and Smith are doing the other TNT/Discovery feed that I have sometimes heard mentioned: outside Europe or something? I don't understand why they would need a different commentary team though.

That was weird: Jez Cox (I think) giving intro to the Tour of Britain, then crossed mikes and eventually Ned Boulding speaking, and as theriders pull away for the depart fictif Cox is back, apologising for overtalking Boulding.

Boulding is doing presenting, but not, I think, in-race commentary for ITV.

So is this a hint of some merging of resources between ITV and TNT? Boulding going to move, and this a brief taster of him? Some sort of insistence by race organisers of a shared intro? Or just a technical ***-up that Cox tried to style out?

ITV are covering race live in UK. I assume Disco and Cox are piggybacking on their broader coverage. Boulting is their presenter with Rowe, and just to confuse McDonald is providing commentary .
Cycling commentators and presenters are a freelance promiscuous bunch happy to earn a coin wherever.

Cycling commentators and presenters are a freelance promiscuous bunch happy to earn a coin wherever.
But not usually so promiscuous as to be on two broadcasters on the same race, and possibly simultaneously.

is there a version of the Vuelta on TNT where one does not have to watch the Breakaway

A version where one can see the podiums and interviews ...there was at the Tour on GCN ?

Does anyone know. I cannot abide the Breakaway

Adam Blythe spouting rubbish, Orla so annoying and Matt Stephens stating the bleeding obvious in the most verbose way

Surely there is an alternative ???

Unfortunately not anymore. I turn it off the second the stage ends.

I don't think so. They really don't seem to show many of the interviews anymore on TNT, which is a shame.
I'm not watching on SBS Australia using a VPN and have been pleased with their coverage, even if one of the commentators keeps calling it the Volta rather than the Vuelta.

Karsten: "I have 2 cats, a young one and an old one"
Jeroen: "What's the name of the youngest one?"
Karsten: "cat"

(This conversation is translated, obviously. And technically the more correct translation would've been pusses and puss)
