One more volunteer for the ignore list. I can see why this place has driven off so many members. I posted that last article because I was told by someone else to stop talking about the allergies. Some people here hate the truth, and like the thread says, it's not always the same thing as opinion. Buh bye

Press release from Stage one:

Alberto Contador finished safely the first stage of the Tour of Castilla and Leon, in which Astana controlled the race to avoid surprises before the key day, next Friday. “It has been a very nervous stage because you know that this area is windy and it has made any nervousness”, said Alberto.

At the finish, however, all ended as planned, with a sprint and no differences at overall. “The team has been very attentive at all times”, said Contador. “We've been ahead in case if there was some movement, but at the end we saved the day without problems”.

The day threatened rain, but eventually the peloton was not wet. WWe've been very lucky”, said Alberto. "We got a lot of clothes at the start but we were lucky and we just wet a little”. He and the rest of the favorites have pass the day with no problems. “You see people in front, like Igor Anton, Machado, Menchov, and Mosquera, all very attentive, but on a day like today can not have conclusions”.

Tomorrow might be different, but Contador thinks the key is the Morredero. “In this Tour you never know because there is usually wind, but certainly the stage to mark the race will be the Morredero”. While waiting, Contador tune their feelings, which yesterday were not extraordinary. “Today I have not gone with the pedal rithm that I like, but I came here very relaxed, thinking of the classics. I rested for four days and that might make today and tomorrow be a little less agile than usual”.

+1 theswordsman brings a number of positive things to this forum, the whining isn't one of them.

Can't wait for Alberto to get the gastrointeritis that has been going around the peloton. You will post every little detail on it.

:D But that was funny! I really don't understand the reaction it got, although not unexpected.

Exactly - it was a joke. And even if you had told me my post was idiotic - you are entitled to your opinion and I am not going to have a fit about it.

Has anyone from my team Liquigas had gastrointeritis yet? Man what a fun play on words would that be.

Well, the thread is entitled "Contador 2010". If you're tired of "every little detail" then you're free to simply not read it or simply stop visiting the thread.

I appreciate Swordsman's efforts to keep us informed with his postings.

Kind of an interesting press release for CyL Stage two. Contador and Astana knew about a turn with wind in advance and used it to their advantage. Alberto hasn't done recon on the mountain finish for tomorrow.

: 15 / 04 / 10 :: Alberto Contador: “The best thing has been the team’s work and how attentive they were.”
The second stage of the Vuelta a Castilla y León was settled in a sprint today after a very agitated finale in which the wind caused splits in the peloton. Astana, together with Rabobank, took the initiative and Alberto Contador was always at the front. In the end, only Plaza and Marchante—two of the favorites on paper—lost time, but Contador, after the bad experience at Paris-Nice, was able to finish happy after a such a stage. “The best thing has been the team’s work and how attentive they were.”

“There was a little of everything in the stage,” he explained, “with a lot of rain, fog and wind. You had to pay very close attention all the time and the team did a really great job. We had to take control because four riders had escaped and had gotten a pretty good gap, but in the end we cooperated with Cervélo, who wanted to keep the leadership and were looking for a new sprint win. At the finish,” continued Alberto, “we knew that it was windy and we were very careful. In the last 20 kilometers there was a left-hand turn and a wind from the side that worked in our favor. We knew that it was going to create splits. We took the initiative along with Rabobank and our two teams ended up profiting. At the end I don’t know if there were time differences, but the best thing has been the team’s work and how attentive they were.”

Contador is looking forward to the queen stage now, with its finish at the top of El Morredero, which he’s still not familiar with. “I’ll see how the legs are working tomorrow, but now they’re going fairly well and I hope to have a good day. The climb is not especially consistent—it has spots for recovery—and maybe not knowing it is rather detrimental, but I’ll be talking with teammates to see what they can tell me. Tomorrow is the most important day, obviously, although those of us still within a small time spread will gamble for the GC in the time trial,” he concluded.

Wonder how long it will take LA to take credit for teaching Contador about that crosswind stuff.

Specialized has a video of Alberto showing off his new bike with the symbols and things. I didn't realize the white parts were for his pistol shooting thingy. Nice closeups of the whole bike, plus subtitles.

Someone please make him stop with the pistol thing! This season has already become a total bore. There's way better drama on the road.

...Velonews has a photo of Contador on the podium, and he has a different cap with his new personal symbol instead of the pistol shooting one. Maybe they'll fil in the colors as he wins each grand tour again?

Not enough fingers for that scenario!
It's still a pistol shooting thing, just stylized and artistically rendered:cool: . I like it, although I think it's a bit pretentious having a red stripe for the Vuelta when he hasn't worn a red one yet. I thought one of the spare fingers would be for the red some day in addition to the gold.
But now I think (based on nothing:D ) that the two unused fingers may be reserved for an Olympic and a World Championship win. Nah, just kidding.;)

Just wanted to document Contador's reaction after winning Castilla y Leon and finding out it would take an all night drive, long train ride and a bus to get him to Belgium. This is from a retweet - he used something new in Facebook and it repeated every hour. The original is gone to get rid of the duplicates.

Due to the volcano 1900km on the road,a good history for remembering.Like the old times!

Road trip!

Baseball's been very very good to me

I think it was Greg LeMond who introduced BaseBall Caps to the Pro Peloton?

Too bad...Eddy would have looked soooo cool in a Cannibal Munch Munch Cap.
