suppose it would be asking too much for a translation? :)

Talks about how they were supposed to fly from Bilbao, but flight was cancelled. Back and forth with Noval re: driving. They are taking train to Paris. Then they are in car with Paquito driving to Liege and says they will stretch legs when they get to Liege. There is a lot more. He talks fast - my family is from Asturias and I think he speaks fast.

He just says how they have taken turns driving. Benjamin, Jacinto and Alberto. AC drove through the border of Spain-France.

They made several stops for gas, food and for un cafecito (a little cup of coffee).

AC says Oscar Pereyro sent them a picture of how the situation was on the train, people all over the floor, and that it was more uncomfortable taking the trip by train than by car.

Lastly, he says that after such a long trip, liquid retention is very bad and that he's eager to train a little to fix that.

AC looks very easy going. He doesn't take himself seriously.

This scene looks familiar, driving over 1000km to a race with friends...I really like these clips, stark contrast to some of Armstrong's.

EDIT: yes I know it's staged

A bit more about the video, from a press release.

Contador traveled with teammate Benjamin Noval. On Sunday, following the fifth and final stage of the Tour of Castilla and Leon and the corresponding awards ceremony, the Astana riders nominated to run Fleche Wallonne and Liege, embarked on the journey toward 16:30 Pau where he was due today tomasen high speed train to Paris.
During the trip, however, Contador and Noval preferred alternative disposal to train and continue by car, since it seemed more direct and comfortable. hile Pereiro, Jufré STANGELJ and continued with the original plan, the first two slept in Poitiers after an initial phase of 1,200 kilometers, and this morning after 7 hours of sleep, made the rest of the trip to Liege, where they arrived on 15: 00 hours, after nearly 24 hours of travel.

Albert, after a light lunch, spent the rest of the afternoon to conduct a gentle workout, but took the opportunity to come to recognize a small portion of the route of the Liege-Bastogne-Liege in the company of some cyclists, with whom he made 30 kilometers. Noval preferred mate loosen up your legs on the roller, waiting for the day tomorrow, when the whole team made the recognition of the latter part of the Flèche Wallonne.

"It's been a hard journey," said Contador, "but we have done relatively comfortable and fast. In the end we right not to take the train because he was really full of people, as we have told our companions on the journey ahead is not nothing. "

Painting one's name on one's car is a nice touch.

Driving it 1900km to Belgium must have been wacky.

By the way, Alberto's website is up:)

Do you think he needs his name on the car so he can find it? Hell, everyone in Europe could find it for him if he lost it...

I read some place over the weekend that they had been loaned an Audi for a few days. Jacinto drove Alberto back in it after the mountain finish the other day. So I think the stuff on the outside is decals. At one of the other races, they had a Contador car that was WAY MORE splashy.:)

http://velonews.competitor.com/2010/02/teams/tech-feature-rare-vinyl_105954

Specialized posts interviews of Alberto with Closed Captioned English subtitles. I just asked if this was possible at the Contador website and in the video comments. If more people ask, maybe they'll think it's worth the effort. The guys talked an awful lot in the car, but some of us didn't learn much.

I'm really starting to believe that Alberto might go for it in these two races. He said he took four rest days last week with the Ardennes classics in mind. Then he made the road trip, and was out doing course recon as soon as he got there.

During the trip, however, Contador and Noval preferred the alternative to the train, and continued by car, since it seemed more direct and comfortable. While Pereiro, Jufré and Stangelj continued with the original plan, the first two slept in Poitiers after the initial 1,200 kilometers, and this morning, after 7 hours of sleep, did the rest of the trip to Liege, where they arrived around 15:00 hours, after nearly 24 hours of travel.

Alberto, after a light lunch, spent the rest of the afternoon doing a gentle workout, but took the opportunity to preview a small portion of the course of Liege-Bastogne-Liege in the company of some cycloturists, with whom he rode 30 kilometers. Noval preferred to ride on the rollers, waiting for tomorrow, when the whole team will preview the latter part of the Flèche Wallonne.

The website has had that poll up since last Fall - tons of votes. But now I wonder if they're switching from the pistolero symbol to your avatar. It would be cool in color, and a lot of people (based on a Versus poll) don't like the shooting thing.

I voted for the cap:cool:

I voted for the cap:cool:

If Versus would have polled the Bull Rider demographic instead of
the cycling weenies, the results would have been different.

Pistol Cap #1.

This pictures great!!

Alberto Contador - 'A man outstanding in his own field'..........

Ultimately I voted for the 'caddy' - as I quite like the idea of having a superstar carry around my clubs as I played golf.
Only problem is I don't play golf - maybe I could get him to clean my bike or mow the lawn.

I bet that car, with his name of the side, would be a great ride for scoring hot honeys in Spain. I'm surprised that Armstrong does not have something similar.

Press release after recon ride at La Fleche Wallone.

Alberto Contador today did the last 60 km of the Fleche Wallonne and twice climbed the Wall of Huy, the emblematic finish of a race that he says, “I found it even harder than I remembered”.

“Today we saw the last 60 km of the race and everything went pretty well. There are climbs that I knew from 2007, but there have been some changes in the final. We have had a good day, we have seen everything and now just need the legs works”, Alberto said after returning to the team hotel.

“I remember the Wall of Huy” he said, “but I find it even harder than I remembered, it has the last 700 meters incredible”.

For him, favorites for this race are among “those who fought for the Amstel Gold Race, people like Philippe Gilbert, Cunego, Ivanov and others like Alejandro Valverde. They are the reference”. He, however, wait to see how he responds after the efforts of Castilla y Leon and the trip from Santiago. “It is difficult to have any conclusions after a voyage of almost 2,000 kilometers. Sensations today are not the best, but I hope that will change tomorrow”.

Finally, Contador pointed some of the differences between tomorrow and Sunday’s race. “Liège is a race far more demanding than this, people come to the finish more just because there are 60 km more and the accumulated slope is also significantly higher. I hope to do well and continue knowing these races, but there are more experienced and more motivated riders than me, because I come here a little calmer”.

The poll has been up for ages as well as 'Store coming soon', 'soon' apparently being in the eye of the writer. I have voted for the hat at least a couple times, but I would like him to caddy for me. Actually my golf game consists of driving my dad and my son around in the cart to their ball, but it would be awesome to have him caddying for us, if for no other reason to have witness to the wackiness that is my family. Do I have to pay for his travel and accommodations or just the caddying services?

I really could care less what Versus poll says, what does that consist of? Phil Bob and Paul, voting according to JBLA's instructions and then clearing the cookies on the pc and then voting again?

He made similiar down-played comments 2 years ago before the Giro d' Italia.

Nothing but a BS artist. Kind of wondering if he'll escape controls without JB's expertise around but looks like all Spaniards are safe in cycling anyway.

So you are saying the Giro is the same as a one day hilly classic?
Riight. ;)
