Any comments about his two victories in Vuelta a Murcia? (Main stage + ITT). C'mon, boys, don't be shy!

]

Alberto's victories at the Vuelta a Murcia are about as impressive as Levi's victories at the Vuelta a Gila.
Just saying.
(Although the Tour of the Gila was a much harder race lol.)
Bang Bang.

But getting back to the original topic of Alberto's aquittal - it seems a bit unfair that Menchov was deprived of the top spot on the podium by a microdosing donkey transformed by puerto clen into a poser thoroughbred sigh.

Oh well, you know what they say...
in Soviet Russia you do not win races - the races win you.

Ah, Menchov. The paragon of clean cycling. I think you need to go a lot further back in the pack than Menchov to find a rider that was deprived of a top spot on the podium.

Let's compare this to your prediction from last year-

#1 Lance, #2 Schleck, #3 Kloden, #4 Levi, #5 Contador.

How'd that work out for you? :D:D:D

Some interesting remarks from Blazin Saddles:

Alberto Contador won his first race since being let off for eating steak with victory in the opening stage of the three-day Vuelta a Murcia.

The Spaniard is said to have hired a high-profile Belgian lawyer called Jean-Louis Dupont amid speculation that the UCI will appeal the overturning of his ban. How does Andy Ramos feel about this? Maybe he's too busy working on Kolo Toure's case.

Anyway, Dupont has form: he's the guy who shoehorned Tom Boonen into the Tour de France back in 2009 despite his nose-powdering incident.

From the results of the tiny tour O murc. We can tell that the toypistol still has some caps left in it. When the little toy gets dusted at the appeal will he have any caps left in the toypistol? Bangie bangie

The "radio situation" is a smoke screen. Ricco almost killed himself and he was no where near his bike. On second thought, let's give all the riders radios and play a continuous loop of "No Dope". At least the radios would disappear as an issue.

Seems to me that a couple of mouths have been shut in this thread by Contador's latest triumphs: a mountain stage and an ITT, beating Menchov (yes, the one who reached the podium at last year's TdF).

By the way, Contador hasn't showed his "pistolero" gesture when crossing the finish line. Yes, we all know that was a side effect of his overabuse of Clenbuterol :D

I like the seagull on Pistol boys jersey. Contador is the greatest rider since Lance. Levi is progressing nicely though. The thing is Levi will beat Contador in the tour, no doubt about it!

Get the lad into France. Racing in Spain is the Dorothy Dixer of cycling.

Jan Ulrich a wonderful German

Nah, clenbuterol is a drug you MUST cycle. Unless you want to f*ck up your thyroid or end up with severe respiratory ailments. If Alberto never gets off the cycles he wouldn't be around as long as he has, believe me. Or, if he does cycle the drug, which is what everyone with a sane mind does, you would see him gaining weight rather rapidly and then losing it gradually, which he doesn't. He seems to maintain the same weight yearound. Even when you look at his pictures when he was young... he has the same build.

Jan, on the other hand...

Who cares about Contador and Cycling! After seeing the picture of Jan, just get me a beer and a seat next to him. Life goes on.

That's ridiculous. No one here has ever said Contador isn't good or that he doesn't win or almost win pretty much everything he rides. Please, folks, stop taking a dump on this thread.

Working within the framework provided by WADA & UCI sometimes works

Publicus said:
I think you are stretching things a bit. He's hired an experienced appellate attorney who has a successful track record arguing at CAS. That's simply a smart hire, not evidence of his lack of confidence in his own innocence or case.

And as I've intimated in earlier posts, I think, legally speaking, this is going to be a much tougher case to overturn on appeal given the precedents that are out there. WADA has accepted the "proof by exclusion" theory (I just made that term up so forgive me), so it will be difficult to dismiss for lack of DIRECT proof that the meat he was tainted. Coupled with AC relying HEAVILY on his bio-passport and non-positive tests over the course of 2010 and especially during the Tour, and WADA/UCI currently defending the validity and accuracy of those tests, I say with all honesty that I wouldn't be surprised if UCI and WADA waived their appeal rights. The only saving grace would be the revelation of the rumor plasticizers results and even then I think CAS would not allow NEW evidence to be introduced at the appellate level without allowing AC's attorney's opportunity to respond. So, my guess (and it is just a guess), AC will line up to defend his title at the TdF.

Ok, flame away....:p

I like your line of reasoning. I have read the UCI and WADA Anti doping rules and see how Contador & his lawyers structured his defense. I would like to read the RFEC dossier or decision to pick out the new arguments that convinced the RFEC to reverse its earlier decision.
It is too easy to dismiss this as the favorite son decision. The RFEC committee was made up of lawyers and saw something in the new argument that added merit to Contador's defense. Does anyone know where I can find a PDF copy of the final decision to reverse the ban?

the only mouth I've seen shut has been your own. you didn't respond to any of yesterday's posts, some of which IIRC were directed to you. not that you're obligated to respond, but, well, you get the point.

interesting though, that he doesn't do the bangbang thing. he seems to have become a more modest person. I might start liking him.

I do not see any more sanctions in this particular case for Contador.

We can call it the Sherlock Holmes defense. “When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.”

which if it works will destroy lots of claims of doping in the near future, will it not?

I think to the extent that it is something that can truly be accidentally ingested, it will certainly make it harder to disqualify a rider, but I don't see the theory having any impact on the typical synthetic EPO, sterorid violation.

Plus, it is not a very easy theory to establish--proving a negative is VERY hard.
