They wouldn't.

This Giro was always supposed to be a two-man battle. Aru vs. Contador.

I agree. Porte has no buisness being up there. He should be a bottle carrier for one of these two at best.
The guy has wheelsucked (and sucked) for the entire first week. Seeing him winning would have been a disgrace.

And why for him is the most inteligent to attack now? He has to save as more as he can thining in the last week. He has the ITT, are Contador and Aru who has to attack.

Porte has the best team for last week. Nieve an Koning are better than Cataldo in the hight mountains, that is where the Giro would be decided, by attrition, and the team has save energy for that. He was doing very well, but now he is far in GC, so it will be difficult.

LMAO good job leaving out the rest of Aru's team. Besides that statement is a lie, cataldo has been clearly better.

All of this could have been avoided if Sky had Porte near the front and had a Sky rider or two behind him like other GC contenders teams do. The ones behind are for just this situation. Clarke said Richie called to his teammates ahead of him but they couldn't hear him. Radio not working either? How much time would he have lost if he had waited for his team car to come up or a neutral support vehicle? 2 minutes may have been his best alternative.

As I said in another thread, one example in the last six years does not demonstrate this rule's consistent application - more supports the idea that it is applied as inconsistently as many other rules are.
I'd like those examples of inconsistency for this rule if you have them.

Aye but it's ruined the race and much like we talk about Schleckgate, this will always cloud the victory of whoever wins, much better if the winning was done on the road not by the clearly incompetent Comms.
It's not ruined the race YET. We'll see how Porte reacts first. If he sulks like Evans in the '09 Vuelta and rumbles around to a nondescript 3rd never getting any closer to the front than he is now, then sure, it ruined the race. But if he goes full fury mode at the perceived injustice, like Cavendish in the 2010 Tour after Renshaw's ejection or Sella's 18 minutes or however much it was in 2008, we could be in for a ride.
What was the Evans situation all about?

Evans had an inopportune puncture on the climb to Sierra Nevada, and had to wait for a rather incompetent wheel change courtesy of the neutral service car. Because Samu had already been dropped nobody waited, and Evans then blew himself up chasing (caught the Samu group then was comprehensively dropped from it later). Feeling hard done by due to the bad luck, Evans however made his point about the bad luck in the press, and then spent the rest of the group sitting in the heads of state group never even looking to attack Valverde for the last week.

at leas this saturday we finally stop arguing about Porte and ITT :D

As far as konig and nieve, so far they were no where to be found while cataldo always close upfront and finish not far behind either. Probably that's why porte left w/o his teammate when he punctured. Sky was individually scattered among the peloton. For team who are talking a lot about marginal gain, maybe they forget to tell sky rider to hide themselves but please be aware where porte is.

I'm still pissed off him for that tour, he should have won ( not talking about the wheel change) deserved to be a 2 time GT rider than people menchov
