I think that Cookson is an improvement on McQuaid just for the fact that the UCI has a much better relationship with WADA.

Have people forgotten all the problems between WADA and the UCI under McQuaid, I see much better co-operation under Cookson.

it is difficult for me to understand the ops original opinion, though it does seem to have a strong anti-British sentiment so it may be their prejudices coming into play, the comments about the spectators at the Tour de France in Yorkshire where just bizarre.

They do? Any chance Reedie has something to do with that? Those are honest questions.

There's no arguing at least Cookson doesn't launch personal attacks in the press.

Precedes Reedie, here is a Fahey quote (Note this precedes Reedie being elected president of WADA)

I’m delighted that that (WADA-UCI) relationship now is back on the very best of terms. We had some very rocky moments in the past, but I’ll leave the past.”

Previously under McQuaid, WADA statement said

This is not only wrong in content and process, but again deceitful, Wada has not and will not consider partaking in any venture with UCI while this unilateral and arrogant attitude continues."

Well with JTL and Kreuz he could have made them go away if he really wanted too - didnt other letters disappear? But, if as you say, he is worse than McQuaid surely he WOULD have made them disappear? But what did he do - made sure they were followed through. The UCI could even appeal to CAS with Kreuz - hardly the action of someone who wanted to smooth over / cover things up.

The Iglinsky comment is pure supposition - i can see your logic : he denied Cav a gold, but in reality Cav wasnt in the hunt at the end.

Rogers is baffling, but then again if Cookson is so bad surely it would never have seen the light of day ...

btw whats SSDD?

Same ****, different day. (sh!t)

I think it's too early to say if Cookson is worse, the Froome TUE and the hiding the banned riders thing worry me among some other things, but McQuaid was bad too.

If Rogers was banned and he and JTL went nuclear, stop and think about who would be in the firing line...

Good point.....Rogers got off whilst with Saxo, leaving him to ride strongly against Sky.

JTL banned whilst riding for Sky, for doping prior to Sky, leaving him not able to ride against Sky's opponents.

Both of these work against Sky..........so much for Cookson corrupting in favour of Sky............maybe he and his son don't get on

1. A Rogers positive would've reflected terribly on Sky.
2. We don't know who dropped the JTL bomb.
What we do know is Cookson has done everything in his power to deflect the blame away from Sky.

Why? He wasn't riding for them

No 'we' don't know that. ......wishful thinking on your part and if you want to argue it then provide some evidence....the fact is JTL's Endura doping is nothing to do with Sky other than possibly revealing that they didn't cover all angles during recruitment.....don't fall for Hoggie's spin on this....you've been around long enough to know that

i think it was you who was spinning it, proposing Rogers' and JTL's cases as evidence that Cookson aint a corrupt joke like McQuaid (or even worse). You said:

Imo, the Rogers case can be disregarded either way. The JTL case has panned out in a way that it looks strongly as if Cookson is defending Sky.
btw, you are still to address the TUE/Zorzoli issue and how that reflects on Cookson. Good luck there.;)

Indeed. Rogers knows too much. He could probably bring down Wiggins and Froome if he started talking.

But I will give Cookson this. He doesnt restrict doping to brits only. He seems happy to let the other big teams dope as they please too, which is good for the sport. Another 2012 season would be the death of cycling.

true story
Oleg Tinkov ‏@olegtinkov
After long discussion with Mr.Cookson @BrianCooksonUCI we realized that we both love cycling . #change for better

Funny that.....because Cookson has been talking about kicking Tinkov's team manager out of cycling for good........you must be the only person on the planet who takes Oleg's words at face value ;)

......interesting how Astana and Saxo are reacting to the change of leadership at the UCI....they know the game is up

it was a nice cryptic message from Tinkov, open to different interpretations.
My interpretation was "I sat down with Brian. I passed him the envelope which he, having checked the contents, eagerly stashed in his briefcase".
Tinkoff-Saxo will continue to flourish, with or without Bjarne.

...because of course that is what Oleg wants the world to think...that he is bribing the UCI president....worked out well for Bruyneel and Armstrong didn't it

Tinkoff-Saxo will continue to flourish, with or without Bjarne.

...maybe maybe not....but Riis is still the manager of Saxo and he still has Cookson's axe over his head pending the outcome of the CIRC....if Cookson was onboard with Oleg that wouldn't be the case

Links to Cookson's words and actions please....

No I have commented and posted the words of Wada chief

McQuaid and Hein pursued Ullrich to the ends of the earth.

Would be shocked if Riis got kicked out of the sport. This is just Cookson reminding everyone who the boss is.

Lets not forget what happened this year. Tinkoff got the green light to go full ***, team Sky style. Now they have hired a bunch of dopers and Im sure they will be just as ridiculous next year.

But Cookson wants to clean up cycling. Sure thing.

Facts on the ground doesn't square with your opinion at all.......not one bit......Astana and Saxo are arguably the top GT teams at present......and both of them have their managers threatened with the axe......not so Sky, but then Sky don't appear to have had any success (comparatively) since the election of Cookson...

Join those dots ...... Cookson gets elected....Sky crashes through the floor....Cookson gets elected....Sky crashes through the floor....Cookson gets elected....Sky crashes through the floor....Cookson gets elected....Sky crashes through the floor....Cookson gets elected....Sky crashes through the floor....

Mark, your posts are becoming unreadable now.

Sky didnt crash. The other teams caught up. Astana and Tinkoff have started doping hardcore this year, under Cooksons watch.

No chance Cookson wants to kick out Riis and Vino. It is just talk Mark.

Cookson needs to get rid of Riis and Vino and give us Julich & Yates.

They are better because English is their first language.

Personal attack and baiting...because you are in a corner again

Sky didnt crash. The other teams caught up. Astana and Tinkoff have started doping hardcore this year, under Cooksons watch.

Again facts don't fit your spin...if it was a matter of 'catching up' then all three teams would be winning GTs.... but only one GT win for Sky since July 2012....gone.......into the dust....

No chance Cookson wants to kick out Riis and Vino. It is just talk Mark.

You don't know that yet...CIRC hasn't completed its work.....so it is baseless opinion (again)....besides, at the very least it is being said......all these guys got a free run under McQ
