The common goal now is to get Cookson reelected. This was a necessary step towards that goal.

Holy crap that is one dumb interviewee. Cookson literally says nothing beyond stuff like "spots is tough". It's almost like he is saying the ends justify the means but is too slick to do so or too dim to realize it.thehog said:Mr.38% said:Medals trump ethics, appears to be a pattern: https://cyclingtips.com/2017/01/cookson-defends-sutton-over-bullying-claims-says-he-has-a-great-respect-for-him/
The guy is a total clown & clearly worried about the beans Sutton will drop if he becomes unemployable.
Remember when Brailsford was telling the UCI to get tough on ASTANA? This is just laughable now.Nick C. said:Holy crap that is one dumb interviewee. It's an absolute farce now under Cookson.thehog said:Remember when Brailsford was telling the UCI to get tough on ASTANA? Reading between the lines ... Sutton has made the shortlist for the Oz job and needs some positive PR spin to make it easier of CA to employ him. Has Cookson by the balls.thehog said:Mr.38% said:Medals trump ethics, appears to be a pattern: https://cyclingtips.com/2017/01/cookson-defends-sutton-over-bullying-claims-says-he-has-a-great-respect-for-him/

http://www.bbc.com/sport/cycling/38833749[for] Brian Cookson, president of British Cycling for 16 years until 2013, when he became the most powerful man in the sport, elected President of world federation the UCI after campaigning to restore the sport's credibility. At the time Cookson spoke proudly of his time in charge of British Cycling, hailing it a "well-run, stable federation governed on the principles of honesty, transparency and clear divisions of responsibility." A man who, when asked whether he had presided over any bad behaviour, surprised some observers by saying "I don't want to comment on any individual", but then did so anyway, expressing his "great respect" for Sutton.
That they didDamianoMachiavelli said:The Brits did not install Cookson at the UCI because they wanted to improve cycling. They backed him to a man in place who could put his thumb on the scale. He has been surprisingly effective at that.
Just like any application letter.Benotti69 said:Funny to reread Cookson's election manifesto. Pure comedy.
Not mine, but yes any politician, business person or in particular sports administrator, make em laugh! :lol:kingjr said:Just like any application letter.Benotti69 said:Funny to reread Cookson's election manifesto. Pure comedy.

Looking at his Twitter account I'd say he's busy securing the votes he'll need should there be an election in September.Freddythefrog said:Not so many selfies taken lately.
I re-read Cookson's original election manifesto. He successfully managed to fulfill none of what he promised, even in relation to women's salaries. He did manage the CiRC report but when it didn't say what he wanted it to say, he quickly swept it under the carpet, there were too many references to cortisone and skinny riders that might impact Sky.Benotti69 said:Not mine, but yes any politician, business person or in particular sports administrator, make em laugh! :lol:kingjr said:Just like any application letter.Benotti69 said:Funny to reread Cookson's election manifesto. It was entirely awful, I actually felt bad for Cope as like many before him, Brailsford left him hanging. Sapstead really only reacted when the spotlight was on her. If this never got as far as the CMS hearings her report would have been "no violations found". It just goes to show that UKAD, UKsport have no way of controlling Sky or Brailsford. He does as he pleases.King Boonen said:Listening to Sapstead now. No wonder Freeman hasn't turned up, this is not sounding good.
The way he bought into all the "attention for detail" crap and tried to sell it to his readers...thehog said:..looking at you David Walsh.
Journalists should realise stories where you are embedded in an organisation lack validity, unless you do the same with 3 or 4 organisations, and then write a compare and contrast article/s.sniper said:The way he bought into all the "attention for detail" crap and tried to sell it to his readers...thehog said:..looking at you David Walsh.
Now what do we have, an organization built on the claim of cleanliness and attention to detail, did not keep records that could actually proof they live by that mission statement.
Walsh knew all along if he didn't look for it, he'd never find it and ride this donkey to retirement. Good to see he's out there on Twitter pretending he knew all along about Wiggins's cortisone abuse. He's a total waste of space.sniper said:The way he bought into all the "attention for detail" crap and tried to sell it to his readers...thehog said:..looking at you David Walsh.
