That helped. Wasn't bloody raining for once!

Spoken like a true uk resident!

We got there early and were to walk the course while the riders were milling around. Got some great close up pics of the riders - I was so close to Vino I could have shook his hand. I didn't really think about it until then but the riders were tiny / thin.

UCI to publish doping report in full as cycling sets an example for FIFA to follow

World Cycling will show FIFA the way when it comes to transparency around a major inquiry when their doping investigation reports in February.
FIFA continue to prevaricate on how much of Michael Garcia’s probe into World Cup bid corruption will ever be made public because of confidentiality issues despite a global demand that it is seen in full.
But Brian Cookson, British president of UCI — cycling’s ruling body — has promised their own investigation into cycling’s chronic drugs problem will be published in full.

The question of confidentiality will be solved by redacting any names or detail where there is an issue.
FIFA, who have left it to compliance chief Domenico Scala to decide how much of Garcia’s findings to release, should follow Cookson’s lead.

Meanwhile, Cookson flew business class from Heathrow to Nice yesterday for the International Olympic Committee Congress in Monaco. In contrast, Peter Dawson, head of the International Golf Federation, was in economy.
The only British presidents of Olympic summer sports had never met and were introduced on the IOC bus taking them from Nice to Monaco.

Rough year for Cookson..

I guess we must give him some more time to clean up the sport.

Needs more air miles for the first class upgrade. :D

After that, it will be the cleanest peloton ever.

As the IAAF scandal grows, Cookson is offered a quote as the OTHER rife with doping sports federation.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/ot...-accused-of-doping-by-German-documentary.html

“In my view, there are two groups of sports: there are those that have a doping problem and are actively trying to do something about it, and I would like to say that we’re in a leading position in that; and there are those sports that have a doping problem are still pretty much in denial about it.”

I'm not sure what Cookson means by "doing something."

And then....

Cookson also pointed out that cycling’s doping controls were now carried out by an “entirely independent” body.

That's world class misinformation from Cookson. IOC will view that as excellent.

I see Cookson has been hanging out in Monte Carlo lately. I wonder what he was doing there? Visiting Vino perhaps?

All hands meeting of the IOC. Bach is going to get his 20-point plan ratified.

Of course they aren't going to speak to Seppelt. Once that genie is out of the bottle there's no telling how much damage will be done.

lol yes. Cookson only wants independent reports that say the sport is cleans.

I love how the president of WADA is doing his best to pretend the whole Russia affair never happened. Incredible stuff really. I kind of had some respect for WADA but this is brutal.

What "clean" Cookson should say tonight...

I'am very dissapointed to tell you that we have granted Astana with a WT-licence for 2015..

The thing is, that our legal team together with the Licence commission
assesed that we on the current basis would lose the case in CAS..

So what we decided is to grant the tam a licence for next year and build a case upon the Padua findings in cooperation with the italian investigators..

I can understand the dissapointment from all those apposed doping, and given the history of cycling and my very organization I would be a fool to think that anything i say is going to comfort you...

In the midst of this we have decided to change the rules for obtaining WT-licence. This step is necessary if we truly wan't to exclude the dodgy teams with dodgy riders...

We have allocated significant ressources to the Italian investiagation which we will only take part of in the sense of wiring them finances needed as well as fully opening our books to them..

Cycling is, as always in a major credibility cricis, and I will be the first to admit that we are facing an uphill-battle and that I have failed my duties on several accounts..

This, however is not do to lack of motivation, but more or lss the complexity of the issue.. As a final point I would like to apologize to all those whome feel we are not performing a proper effort.. I take full responsibilty for this and i would also stress that Astana is not one dirty apple, hence the need to change the rules for obtaining licence, both on team, and rider-level...

Even I didn't see this one coming.

Cookson has brought cycling right back into the dark era. And it only took him 1 year.
